Disappointing

Booked as a last minute break for Easter weekend, stayed on the Sunday evening left this morning. After booking and paying in advance I was messaged to let me know it's going to be loud and noisy that weekend. The message sent wasn't very professional at all, I responded saying that and someone responded in a much better reply just wanting to let us know it's hockey weekend and would be busy and the bar can be loud. Bit annoying as we had already booked/paid and there was no where else left to stay. Any how they said they would put us in an room as far from the bar as possible. I tried to reserve a parking space they only have a few spaces and was all full. So I rang and was told there was none free and there is parking nearby..... we drove around for 10 mins or as we dont know the area . We found a longstay carpark down a back road didn't look very inviting but the car was fine. However it take about 5 mins to walk to the hotel which wasn't ideal with our bags. When arriving at the hotel, the lady couldn't find my booking which was a bit worrying.... eventually she found it after I showed my booking reference she wasn't very professional and didn't apologise for the misunderstanding. Another lady was on the phone to someone saying know we don't have a booking for you... so not sure what was going on but not ideal. The room was ok we could see the pier and had a little balcony. We didn't eat at the hotel because was warned how busy it would be. We came back to the hotel around 11pm and the bar was very busy and noisy which is fine they was having a party. And our room was away from the bar and we couldn't hear them so that worked well ..... Except from 2.30 am onwards until about half 4 there was constant noise of people going back to there rooms, stomping up the stairs, shouting at eachother , doors slamming. I know it's not the hotels fault but maybe consideration to guests that weren't part of the party who had paid good money to stay there and get a good nights sleep. We didn't get much sleep at all. Also check out is 10.30 am we had cleaners banging on the door at 9.30 am to see if they could come and clean....... I wouldn't stay here again! It gave off the vibe that it would suit people on a stag due or hen due.

Friendly Proprietor, Comfy Bed, Lovely Breakfast.... What more could you want?

We stayed just the one night. Our first visit to the hotel for a few years. Car parking for residents is on site and free. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room (17). We were also asked if we would be having a cooked breakfast and at what time we preferred. Our room was bright with a balcony overlooking lovely sea views. Double bed and two single beds in our room. A plentiful supply of tea, coffee and milk and 2 packs of biscuits (a rarity these days). The bathroom was large with a shower and a bath. We enjoyed our evening out and returned to have a lovely, peaceful night's sleep before enjoying our breakfast. Cereals, fruit, toast, yoghurts all available in addition to the breakfast plus a choice of proper coffee and tea. Nothing here not to like! Price was comparable with any hotel located on a seafront in the UK these days. The Savoy also has character and retains a lot of the 'good old days' factor.

Very dodgy indeed - the room you booked isn't really available but it is if you pay £62 more direct

Reviewed By WeAreTourists

Booked room via booking.com confirmed done. Then get message saying suddenly it's not available? Suspicious I checked their direct website and as 7 other rooms still listed was just a double for 1 night. Their response AHH yes we do have rooms yes you can have a room but it isn't 108 like you booked and was confirmed it's 170-180 they are all double rooms.. So you may think you have a booking contract but only if they fancy honouring it and they can't get more from somewhere else or direct. Very dodgy indeed what YouTube video taught these people how to run a B&B. Some clue on these reviews the owners are iffy, this is another example

Does What it Says on the Box

Excellent value. This doesn't pretend to be anything other than a basic, room only, budget hotel - no frills, no false promises, so I don't know why people are complaining, at £35 a night what else do you want?? Clean, comfortable, ensuite room, with coffee/tea and a TV - and that's it - suited my needs perfectly. I brought my own cereal and dish, so breakfast was covered and there are plenty of eating places near by for any budget. Not too far to the town centre, right on the sea front, and a 20 min walk to the station. I will happily stay here again. I have dropped a point because it was sometimes a bit noisy, but not too bad.

Still using covid ??

Reviewed By Minipeach

Location is ideal a short walk to attractions and restaurants/pubs. Room extremely basic and small. Our phones were bigger than the extremely basic TV! Cardboard bedding. Run down and dated...must be making a killing at 100 a night. There's no tea making facilities (due to covid :/ ) infact there's almost less than nothing in rooms.

AVOID AVOID AVOID terrible smell of sewage in the bathroom even with window wide open, disgusting attitude from the manager when he offered me just an air freshener, if we hadn’t had had a drink we would have drove home. Room 203 it was, manager admitted all the pipes were connected and the toilet pipe wasn’t closed off like it should be. The smell was eye watering and my 10 year was actually sick!! Don’t waste your money!!!!
