Vacation from Hell!!!!!

This place was awful! I booked a room here for 7 nights and was placed in an old worn out room with most awful decor that you’ve ever seen. After complaining to the front desk, I was able to upgrade to a remodeled room for an extra $30 usd per night. The food was lousy none of the taxi drivers even knew how to get to this dump, it was like Bucerias was in another planet than The surrounding cities. The housekeeper “cleaned” our room 2 out of the 7 nights we were there and would never leave face towels even after tracking her down for doing her job. I would have to go to the front desk for towels ( which they don’t have) and tell them that our room needs towels, she would then show up 1-2 later with large towels that we already had. The bartenders and the waitresses are very nice, but kind of on the slow side. I just don’t recommend this place to anyone, unless you’re from there. I have never had a bad time in Mexico, but my experience with this place makes me not want to come back again.

Perfect Quiet Place To Be

Reviewed By Linda M

We just spent three weeks at Casa Virgilios as my husband recovered from having knee replacement surgery (which also turned out extremely well). This is a lovely bed-and-breakfast with 13 self-contained rooms. Many of the people that are there are repeat customers and I believe the reason is feeling welcome and a sense of a community. Virgilios himself was very attentive and available when needed. Breakfast seemed to be the time to converse, share plans or ask others for info if needed. Place is very well-maintained and clean and the staff are friendly and efficient. Coffee is excellent and we would absolutely come again. We were within walking distance to many restaurants, Paradise Village, the hospital and access to the beach.

Wonderful staff and location in Sayulita! Breakfast included and wonderful rooftop pool and decks. Rooms were very much as described, with comfortable beds and lighting. Like a lot of lodging in Sayulita, can be a very noisy place in early morning due to traffic and roosters.

Beautiful but SO LOUD

Reviewed By Jen D

Let’s start with the good! This hotel is absolutely beautiful! It is very modern with a super cool aesthetic and amazing rooftop patio. It is located right in the center of Sayulita, near restaurants, bars, and the beach. The breakfasts were solid and the staff was super helpful! Having said all that, this hotel was very, very loud at all hours of the day. Our room was just below the rooftop bar and the music was cranking ALL DAY and well into the night. I understand that they can’t control the noise that is on the street or is coming from other bars but it was frustrating that the noise that was driving us crazy was coming from the hotel itself. The pool area itself, while absolutely beautiful, was also very loud which (for me) made it hard to relax. This hotel is absolutely perfect for people who don’t mind noise and enjoy being in the center of it all. If you want a more relaxed and quiet experience, this is not the place for you. Just know what you’re looking for and choose wisely!

Chill in San Pancho at this Boutique Hotel

Reviewed By RobiWa

The most beautiful boutique hotel experience we’ve ever had. To start, the hotel architecture with old style breeze blocks is amazing. The pool is sleek with trees surrounding it and two rooftop spas with San Pancho views. The beds are super comfortable and the bathroom in the room is so cool. However, the best part of the experience is the people. Both Marcus and Catalina at the front desk are so relatable. I even asked Catalina about doing a yoga class for my family in the rooftop and she just happened to be a yogi master who gave us the class the next morning. The most wonderful hour that we spent in San Pancho during that class. San Pancho is so chill and this hotel fits perfectly. + they have a great coffee bar for locals and guest by the lobby.

The biggest problem is soundproofing!!!!! I could hear every sound in all directions. I had serious concerns for the lady above me cause it sounded like she was dying. But the cute thing is they have such a community presence. Snow birds come down every year, all Canadians from different provinces and meet here. I felt like a family member and super safe as I travel solo. Security: they do have 24 hr security and they were great. As for rooms...super clean. Very impressed. But the whole housekeeping guest vs long term is a bit confusing (and I sleep late) but they always had security so he would open the linen room if you needed a roll of toilet paper. ? My internet was in and out and cable was temperamental at times but sufficient. Location: perfect!!!!!! If you can't pay the 200 bucks a night ocean front but can still hear it loud and clear....it's 5 mins from everything. Which brings me to Cost: I found it very expensive for what you get; but hearing the reviews I'm thinking I may have paid too much. $120 USD / night? When all I hear is budget hotel?? Overall. I enjoyed my stay, rooftop views laying in a hammock watching the sunset over the ocean. Pros: the seasonal guests. Love them to pieces. Security was amazing! Cons: soundproofing, doors to units are not secure. It's like opening your locked bedroom door. You can see through the frame and it doesn't close properly unless you slam it! Won't allow service animals/pets. (I normally travel with a small service dog for epilepsy, but he was ill. Guess this means I won't be back.

Nice, clean, economical, with friendly service

Reviewed By chartreuse_shrimp

I can't add much to the previous reviews - Hotel Casa Chacala is a very nice little hotel, clean, well-kept, and conveniently located a short walk (maybe 200-300 yards/meters) from the beach and the local amenities, with friendly helpful staff (with some who speak English, which is very helpful for those of us whose Espanol is basically non-existent). Most of the other guests during our stay were families out for the Easter and Santa Semana holidays weeks. There was a bit of noise from the pool area sometimes in the afternoon or evening - children playing, young adults being young adults, but nothing too raucous, and it died down early. And, of course the sounds from the town can't be avoided, but that too did not run too late even on the busy holiday weekend. After the holiday passed, it was pretty quiet all over. A simple but adequate common area and kitchen is downstairs next to the pool area. Room had a small refrigerator and microwave, and we used some of the flatware and dishes from the kitchen. You can get in-room coffee in the morning, but we elected the coffee maker option to brew our own, and got an electric kettle and french press, which we greatly appreciated. Fresh, hot coffee on the balcony in the morning: priceless! (Pick up some Cafe Arisan at the market in La Penita). Views are obscured a bit by some of the newer hotels in front - some of which may also be nice but, for the price, you can't beat Casa Chacala. COVID precautions were adequate, and easy to deal with since just about everything is open air except in the rooms. We were advised that making reservations directly with the hotel by phone or email - instead of through online booking services - will get you a better price.
