Great food and warm welcome

Reviewed By sheilap182

We visited on Sunday 22nd May and Friday 27th May and received a warm and friendly welcome both times. We were there for food as we were staying in self catering accommodation within walking distance. Our food was delicious and served with a smile. I had strips of beef with a mushroom sauce and basmati rice. Hubby had hake with sliced potatoes, asparagus in a creamy lime sauce. Second time I had battered haddock with chips and peas and hubby had rock turbot with a lobster and mussel sauce. All meals were delicious.

Excellent stay, gem of a hotel!

Grey Harding’s was a pick out of the blue to stay in Montrose ! Myself & my husband chose somewhere we have not been before for our Wedding Anniversary & New Year and we have had an amazing stay, despite the Restaurant not running & only serving breakfast, which was good, it was a lovely stay. Well situated near the beach, Golf (if you like Golf of course), if you like a walk then a nice stroll along the beach or into town. Due to no restaurant running the hotel were very helpful with local recommendations which was very helpful and due to some restaurants closing over New Year the hotel was happy to provide a table, plates and cutlery for a takeaway. The room was well appointed (no cleaning of room due to COVID policy - no prob for us though) for our 4 night stay, the bathroom & shower modern and very good. The bed very cosy & comfortable and plenty of storage space to unpack for a longer stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated and clean, nice little bar, lounge area and dining area with view over the links. The staff have been very polite, helpful and lovely to talk to and who have made our stay such a lovely one. Well recommended and we will certainly return again, hopefully the restaurant will be up & running by then. There are still things we have not yet visited so we will definitely return. Many thanks to all - Roos Leap and Stroma Restaurants stand out for excellent meals.

Sleepless nights

Reviewed By 525willr

Average but rooms match the rate. Unfortunately I did not sleep well due the the low standard of mattress which is a big deal when needing a good night's sleep. The food was good and the rooms where clean. The staff where friendly and helpful. The location is very close to the train tracks so again more disturbance when sleeping.

vile staff, very upsetting stay

Reviewed By BrookeMacdonald12

I am absolutely shocked and so upset how I was treated. the staff were so rude, nasty and down grading me. I was spoked to like I was nothing, the owner was angry, not welcoming and stormed about the place. said this room water is ok to drink, I was poisoned and so unwell. there was a rat, the staff didn’t give us toilet paper, we weren’t allowed to even use tv. they over charged us, there was no social distancing, no masks and when I asked to put one on she said no. she was also drunk on shift, all the staff are awful. the water that is not for drinking is also used in the bar for people so that’s unacceptable? also there was advertised for golf course but it isn’t there ?

Lovely stay at the Hermitage

Reviewed By EmilyCC96

I had a lovely stay at the Hermitage. A beautiful traditional building but upgraded with modern, well finished en suites and extremely comfy beds. Wendy was extremely welcoming and acomodated my special requests to arrive late and have an early breakfast. The food was great quality and I'd highly recommend the arbroath smokies! Wendy provided a handy list of good local restaurants, so I easily found a nice restaurant to eat in on each night of the week. I would happily recommend and stay again in future - thanks for a lovely stay!

Little gem of a hideaway

My partner and I stayed at Eskview Farm for the night whilst visiting family in nearby Montrose. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the clean, spacious, comfortable room. Plenty of clean towels on offer and spotlessly clean bathroom. Breakfast order was taken and nothing asked for was any trouble The hosts were very friendly and the 2 dogs/horses/and geese were very friendly too :) Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Chapel House B&B

Perfect location, friendly hosts & great value for money

Reviewed By abbouk

I booked Chapel House B&B via AirBnB and after reading a few reviews was not disappointed. Kate & Steve were great hosts and the en-suite room was warm, clean & well equipped with toiletries plus tea/coffee making facilities & a small fridge. Bed was very comfy too and there was little road noise, despite being just off the High Street. Location was perfect as I arrived by train - less than 10 mins walk from the station and just 5 mins walk from the town centre. Highly recommend El Tajin the Mexican restaurant next door too ??
