Best value hotel in Kunming
Reviewed By Jiang-BeijingI cannot wait to recommend you to stay at this hotel as soon as I arrived home for the best price and performance. I paid only RMB 300 for a very nice, clean, new, elegant and model hotel. The breakfast cost only RMB 32 for good quality and good selection of food. To me, the room worth at least RMB 1,000 and I highly recommend you to choose it if you travel at your own cost. The only hassle we ran into was the check-in process. We had friends with Amercan and Chinese passports instead of ID cards. The staff, due to lack of experience, insisted us to present IDs making the process painful. Hopefully they learnt from this experience and become more professional. Overall the staff were very friendly.

The lobby is attended by helpful concierge officers. They do allow baggage deposit for free. Room is spacious, facilities fairly new. However the breakfast was mediocre~

Reviewed By Sabian_skgHotel is clean and good value for money. It's about 15 min. walking distance from Dongfeng Square. As an Ibis hotel with same standards worldwide, they should to improve staff and services. Staff does not speak English, not even the basic.

Mulan Guest House is located in the southwest of Kunming downtown. The transportation is quite convenient. It's a short commute from Grand View Park (Daguan Lou Park) in 1.6 km, and from Green Lake Park 4.5 km. If you come from the city center Jinbi Plaza to Mulan, it is just 4 km. The guest house is a beautiful villa with a front yard filled with lush green foliage, and various seasonal flowers. It keeps a primitive, and simple rustic lodge ambience featuring a wooden design, and supplementing furniture. This framework provides a unique western, and classical sylvan scene. The guest house includes a family room, king-bed room, double-bed room, and dormitory room. Our accommodations provide various choices for families with kids, couples, or friends traveling. Our ground floor is where you can indulge in many comforting western drinks, and food at our cafe, and restaurant.

Reviewed By DirkV650The Mulan guest house is not the youth hostel . It is a small hotel with spacious and bright rooms , some of them with views of the flowery garden . The hotel is somewhat on the outskirts of Kunming but not further away then a 10 minute taxidrive . Rosa - the owner - is a real gem . It is not only her perfect english and humour ,it is her know-how , her alertness to your wishes : she understands western traveller ‘s needs and she anticipates . She arranged a driver with a smaller car ( so cheaper ) to the stone forest and tickets for the train to Dali . They have a breakfast à la carte so you can order according to your taste An american breakfast or just yoghurt with fruit . And she serves great coffee !

This hotel is located in the center of kunming city, just walk around the center of kunming city. It is 5 to 15 minutes walk to the former kunming government cultural palace, henglong square, panlongjiang, dongfeng square, kunming theatre, nanping pedestrian street, and jinma biji square. It is about 5 minutes walk to the subway station.

Reviewed By Dorothy LThis is one of the better Hanting Express Hotel I've stayed in. The room is clean and comfortable. The lobby offers free beverages to hotel guests. Good location as it is in the middle of town. Many restaurants and convenience store nearby.

A beautiful place
Reviewed By RoyStormerWe stayed for one night and we are glad we stayed here. The layout and feel of the place is very rustic with nice finishes. The bathroom was modern and quite large. The shower head has good pressure and I was able to fit underneath even at 6'3 (1.9M). Our room had 2 floors, with the bathroom and sitting area on the bottom and bedroom upstairs. The pillows were nice and firm and the bed was labeled as a queen, but it was a king size for sure. The mattress was on the hard side but not uncomfortable. Overall we were very pleased with our room. We did not try the wifi because it will generally be pretty bad. Make sure you have a sim card and a VPN! This is China, you can't rely on wifi anywhere outside of a major city or Western hotel. The staff was very friendly but no one spoke English (not a surprise). With a translator app we figured out everything easily. The location is a little weird, you drive through a small village area to get there. It is close to the airport and the shuttle was free and picked us up without a hitch. China tip: Make sure you have WeChat! I called them and since they didn't speak English they added me as a friend and we were able to communicate effectively. They did not respond to messages on Hotels.com but on WeChat it was instant. Again, in China this is not a surprise! If we are in the area we will stay here again for sure!
