So much potential but missed the mark...
Reviewed By hayles78Firstly, the town of Bovino is absolutely beautiful. The streets, buildings and people are all delightful. And the Castello Di Bovino from the outside is amazing. Such an amazing site. We arrived at dusk in heavy fog which made the castle look even more beautiful. Imagine driving into a castle on an eerie foggy night in a quaint little town. The kids (11&13) were loving it. There is ample parking and staff were helpful and professional. The town centre and access to really nice restaurants is a 2 minute walk away. Be aware that the shops are closed all day on Thursdays (no particular reason), however restaurants open at 8pm. So Bovino and Castle and location and overall feel... 5 stars. However, it was the following points that let this accomodation down which is a shame because I really wanted this Castle + small town to be something special. I expected the castle look and feel to be translated to the inside and into the rooms. The rooms look like any other hotel room. I was hoping the rooms would be decorated/ renovated to have a castle feel with modern amenities. Not the case. They were clean and the bathrooms were well equipped, but the decor is standard. Breakfast was a bit of a let down especially after the amazing food elsewhere in Italy. Edible but nothing special. The bed in the room (Camelia) is terrible. Solid as a rock. Like sleeping on the floor, and the cushioning was so thin we could feel the springs underneath. This needs some attention. Finally, there are no signs at the front gates and no street signs to show directions to the castle so if you're arriving at night the location might not be that obvious. Google maps is no help... the road and castle driveway is not shown. I had high expectations which were all met as I arrived into Bovino and into the castle gates, but I was hoping for more.

Reviewed By tabbytoesThere are limited options for hotels in Bovino but this has to be one of the best. When you enter there is a small spa downstairs that can be booked by anyone. On the next floor is the kitchen and dining area along with a wine cellar and a well (make sure you have a look). Up from there is a large lounge area with four bedrooms (all ensuite) and up again is another lounge area along with a roof terrace with a stunning view across Bovino. The rooms are large and comfortable - mine had a fridge but I know they didn't all - not really a problem as you could use the fridge in the kitchen. The bathrooms were also a good size with nice toiletries. It was quiet (apart from the church bells) and extremely comfortable.

An enchanting place, in a lovely village

As there was not even an outside sign, the place was somewhat difficult to find; once we did, we were completely enchanted with the apartment, the rooms, the service and the generous hospitality (including a sumptuous breakfast). A perfect location for a vacation and to enjoy the charms of the region, but also an extremely enjoyable one night stop.

Reviewed By verreizenisWe had a great time staying at Masseria Salecchia. The surroundings are magnificent and it is in a remote spot, far away from every possible source of stress. Also ideal for children. Owner Francesco was a magnificent host with a lot of knowledge on agriculture, local produce (also wine!) and a lot more.

Reviewed By PLD5758We had accidentally planned a vacation to Bovino during their annual festival. So there were really no other options available at that time. I feel I do my research & have a few requirements which are a must. Air conditioning being a must. Especially in summer, in Italy. This one seemed to be a good fit. It was in the town & the location was very good for walking to the center of the town. It was a little hard to find, but we asked & were directed right to it. When checking in, we were told the A/C was not working right. Meaning not at all in our room, it was working in our son's room. We asked if it could be fixed & was told that he could not find anyone during the festival. So he brought a fan. It made the nights tolerable, & luckily we were out all day everyday. I would have been ok with this except we found out that a relative had stayed there earlier in the summer & it was not working then. So there would have been time to get it fixed. I will say that he was very nice about bringing a key to us x2 when our son had locked himself out of his room. The lighting is very dim especially in the bathroom. It was very clean. It is a quiet location. There is parking available, in their side yard. The ladies who set out breakfast everyday were very nice, the breakfast however was just ok. I feel the AC issue should have been addressed before our stay, therefore I probably not stay there again.

Non meriterebbe neanche la mezza punta di una stella

Alla prenotazione mia moglie aveva chiesto espressamente se la camera matrimoniale avesse il bagno in camera e le avevano assicurato di si. Invece no!! Il bagno è in luogo comune con di fronte la reception è a fianco la cucina comune e l'ingresso al b&b. Evviva la sincerità. Da sconsigliare vivamente. Inoltre all'ingresso del paese esistono cartelli di tutte le strutture ricettive tranne che di questa. È stata un avventura trovarlo. Non affidatevi al navigatore.
