An in-home gallery and studio featuring the work of multi-media artist Val van der Poel. Visitors will see a variety of original art and, if they want they can have a mini-lesson in watercolour, acrylics, paper quilling or Alphabet Art. Something delicious and highly desirable is out of reach. This sensual and beckoning mountain range is like that, and so it is named after the origins of "tantalize" (i.e. a naughty demi-god named Tantalus). Oh, this was one bad boy. Haughty, snotty, arrogant, and not at all a good father ... he killed his son, diced and chopped him up to serve in a stew to the gods. That pompous lot had gifts unknown to mortals (one was to know what they were eating, apparently). Zeus was not amused. Tantalus' punishment was to spend his time in Hades, tied to a tree, in a pool of water (but from which he was unable to quench his thirst) and under a tree of fruit (from which he could never reach to eat the fruit). And so, we too, spend our time wishing to be close to such a beautiful range of white-capped peaks but always out of our reach. If you are fortunate, your tour bus will stop at the lookout and you can take some time to savor the deliciousness of the Tantalus Mountains at a safe distance. We understand that there is no direct access to the mountains, making it even more tantalizing.
4. Canyon Park
Canyon Community Park has a new Pavilion with commercial kitchen (rental available for weddings and family reunions), ball diamond, walking trail, playground, 14 unserviced campsites ($20/nt), recently renovated washrooms and equine riding arena. Annual Canada Day Event starts at 7 am with all day events for the entire family admission is free!
