Since 1976 Forschergruppe Steiber works to give you an authentic experience of three characteristic mining periods at the mining museum Schauninsland. Our tours, between 45 min and 2.5 h long, teach you about metal ore mining and the history of technology in a unique environment. The 45-min tour without minimum age enables you to get a first impression of the museum. Normal footwear and street cloths are sufficient. We also have tour leaflets in English. Please do not hesitate to ask for them! We avoid technical terms and with basic German skills you will be able to follow our guides’ explanations. Throughout the year we also offer special tours in English. We recommend our 2.5 h tour under the following conditions: Minimum age 12 years (exceptions possible for 10- and 11-year-olds, please talk to the supervisor). Normal fitness and a good physical constitution. Firm, closed footwear and sturdy hiking clothing.
