Reviewed By Brad RI had a quick business trip planned to assess local conditions in Tongliao and my travel coordinator suggested this hotel. The next hotel below it was less than half the cost, so it seemed luxurious when compared to local spots. From outside there were spots that looked like Rome or somewhere else in Europe. Inside, it was all rural China, tho. Plants in the lobby and the hallway carpet had freshly extinguished cigarettes on/in them. My room was not expensive but it was huge and well appointed, Dining room, dining table, electric kettle but no coffee only tea. 4 free (small bottles of water) and a small locked minifridge. I was sad to not have a place to keep some water or a beer or 2 chilled. There was also a living room, an office, with WiFi and "broadband" wired connection. The bedroom was also huge, and the bathroom has a clawfooted bathtub that had a hottub installed. If you were there, saw it, and couldn't make it work, it's because the switch is in the bedroom labelled as massage bathtub. When my colleague and I rolled in, there was a ton of wedding debris everywhere and there are a large number of event rooms, so we were glad to have missed it. Check-in is under the supervision of Feifei, who was all business, fast and efficient, but not an English speaker. The next morning I was surprised at 0720 to be joining a lot of wedding guests for breakfast. Big event, nice hotel, free food, in a word one of Dante's rings. Standard "not expecting anybody but Chinese people here" fare, and although my colleague and I each had a room, alone, we both got two meal tickets. The coffee was good, boiled eggs and that was enough for me. The buffet is shoehorned into a central area but one entry/exit to that area is closed/blocked causing a choke point esp as guests intent on eating and then checking out brought all their bags, too. If the wedding was not getting ready to start, it probably would have been fine. We stayed in B Bldg and checked out some culturally appropriate yurts being constructed for events. Looked nice and were not done yet.

Reviewed By Simon RLooks very nice from the outside, we were told this was the best hotel in Tongliao but a 21 night stay proved otherwise. They don't accept international credit cards so we had to pay 2000 yuan (max we could draw from ATM) deposit and then another 2000 every 3 or 4 days otherwise they locked us out of our rooms. Had to change rooms on the second night as woken up be the very noise air con. Room was clean but bathroom had a squashed mosquito in residence for 19 nights - not properly cleaned. Walls are paper thin and you can hear your neigbours loud and clear. You also get to smell the contents of your neighbours toilets when they flushed it made my bathroom somewhat smelly. We were told laundry service was incuded in the price of our room but on arrival we were told they don't offer a laundry service. The staff are friendly and try their best but don't expect any of the staff to speak English as you'll be disappointed if you do. We were lucky enough to have a translator with us who was an enormous help. The crowning glory...... it took us 55 minutes to check out - you would think this had never happened before by the way they made such an almighty fuss. We had already paid in advance, in fact they refunded us about 300 yuan (£30) we had overpaid, good job our flight was delayed as we probably would have missed it..... never again. Have to return to Tongliao in a month or so and I will definitely be stopping somewhere else.
