Loud music and fly alarm at 2am, awful stay after long drive
Reviewed By sampY3329BAArrived late after a 6 hour drive only to be presented with drunks outside smashing glass and then literally a 200 people club that went on till 11:30. Fire alarm at no fault of them but after taking a long time to get to sleep, a 2am bell wasn't a great addition

We are close to the A465 Heads of the Valleys road, which runs between Abergavenny (30 mins) and Swansea (1 hour). We are also close to the A470, which gives access to Cardiff (40 mins) and the M4.
Wonderful Welsh Welcome
Reviewed By bochdewWe stayed for two nights and had breakfast and evening meals. Amazing menu - from standard chicken and chips to more exotic venison steaks. The staff at this family-run hotel really went out of their way to ensure we had a happy and comfortable stay. We hope to visit again in the not-too-distant future!

Apartment, avoid at all costs!!!
Reviewed By RsausainisArrived to stay in so called apartment, I wasn’t expecting much anyway but when we checked in all of us where left in shock! Never mind old and basic-that is acceptable, but dirty and unsafe No! At least two out of six beds had dirty bedding, stained pillows and ripped bed bases, felt like someone brought them off the street! Piles of dust on the shelves, skirtings and wardrobes. Kitchen was filthy, broken cabinets, dirt and rot inside them, you could go on and on! Definitely avoid, if I can upload the pictures you’d be left in shock!

It has currently undergone a £1.5 million refurbishment to bring back one of Blaenau Gwent town's 'finest heritage assets'. This hotel consists of 10 luxury bedrooms, a sports bar, restaurant, open bar area and an exquisite function room.

Reviewed By I1281ZVdenisebWe booked this last minute for the bank holiday and it definitely exceeded our expectations. The room was a very good size, nicely decorated and very clean. You can tell the housekeeping team pay attention to detail and they do a very good job. It looks like the place was remodelled not too long ago. All the staff were very helpful and nice. We ate both nights at the restaurant and had breakfast, and all the food was delicious and well presented. The hotel is in a very good area to visit Brecon Beacons. We will come back for sure!

A clean and modern flat over a very noisy pub
Reviewed By Stephen WThe title "Lodge" is rather confusing as these are actually flats of various sizes in a courtyard behind and over a pub. On the positive side, the flat we stayed in was clean and modern with a huge bathroom equiped with a splendid spa bath. On the negative side, our flat was rather short of plates, cups and glasses but, more importantly, it was directly over the pub and so was VERY noisy in the evenings with a disco (which literally made the floor vibrate!) or a live band between about 8:30 pm and 11:30 pm on each of the three nights we were there.

Reviewed By scrumboMy daughter and I were on a short break to walk the Sugar loaf and Skirrid mountains as well as exploring the area. We were greeted by Hayley on reception who was extremely friendly and helpful. She gave us lots of local information and tips. Nothing was too much trouble. Hayley is an absolute asset to Premier Inn.

Attractive rural Inn with 50 seat & 25 seat restaurants and a comfortable lounge with central log fire. Ensuite bedrooms to a high standard on the ground floor with outside access have been recently added. The Prince is situated close to the A465 dual carriageway between Rhymney and Tredegar the nearest large town just 4 km away is Merthyr Tydfil a town which was at the centre of the Industrial Revolution when coal, iron and steam changed the face of the world. On the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park it is an ideal location for cyclists , walkers and central for tourists. Bryn Bach Country Park is less than 1km with lake, Golf, and cycling facilities including BMX track. The Prince has a comprehensive menu served all day from 12:00 - 9:00pm with the majority of meals home made. The bar has a good range of beers and lagers including Felinfoel Double Dragon, Guinness and locally brewed Rhymney beers plus an excellent range of wines, spirits and low or non alcohol drinks.
Don’t do it. Look elsewhere.
Reviewed By A1262MZlbDo not waste your money on this B&B This was the worst place I have ever stayed. On arrival we were met with an empty pub. The landlady clearly had the hump with the landlord and totally dismissed us. The landlord himself was a very pleasant elderly gentleman but couldn’t find the booking then couldn’t find the key even though hours before our arrival had taken our money. Eventually he showed us round to the back of the pub to a room I can only describe as his mothers. You notice the decor first…….then the smell. Oh my god that smell. It comes in waves like it’s being pumped into the room. A thousand smokers and dirty ashtrays. We booked for 3 nights. We left after 1. The worst night sleep I’ve ever had on a mattress that had so many toppers on it clearly to disguise how bad it was. The bathroom, a tiny cupboard with floor to ceiling black tiles. Couldn’t see a thing even with the light on. I cant give a review on the food. The room was so bad I couldn’t face eating anything there. A pub that’s clearly struggling and has created rooms from old furniture to bring in revenue. Describe in one word…..revolting.

Reviewed By Luke NGreat food, the kitchen was kindly kept open for us when we arrived as we had called earlier and we were hungry! Fantastic Welsh hospitality from Mark and Claire, their friends and their locals. Really lovely and interesting people, made my mate and I feel extremely welcome and we quite happily chatted and played pool with them for hours, thank you guys for a brilliant night!
