The 9 Best Gift & Specialty Shops in Loch Ness, Scotland

November 21, 2021 Giuseppe Pratt

With depths reaching 700 feet and a length of more than 20 miles, Loch Ness provides plenty of hiding places for its legendary monster. Should you tire of searching for Nessie, this scenic section of the Scottish Highlands also delivers charming villages like Drumnadrochit and Fort Augustus, open-air Shakespearean productions, multiple golf courses and medieval Urquhart Castle. Wildlife of the non-mythological variety and ancient Caledonian pine forests can be found in the Glen Affric nature reserve.

Clog and Craft Shop

A lovely little clog and craft shop, with incredibly friendly staff who ensured we could get around the shop with ease, one of us being a wheelchair user. The shop is stocked with homemade clogs, handmade leather belts and keyrings, as well as a variety of sheep skin rugs and hats, along side the usual gift shop items.

Visited in August with our young son, Leo, who was shy at first but wanted help. The lovely Kate was serving and she stopped what she was doing and couldn’t do enough to help my son. Clearly her customer service was a hit as my son bought his “girlfriend” a present as well as two other pieces for himself. He also insisted his mum went into the shop later to spend some money and check to see if Kate remembered him. Great little shop, some lovely and quirky glass items and the warmest welcome you could ask for. Highly recommended.

The Clansman Centre

We popped into the Clansman Cente after a cruise on the Loch. The gift shop is cosy and full of lovely items including local hand made soap. The lady who owns the shop has a theatre to the side that demonstrates traditional high land Scottish living which was really fascinating. Well worth a visit!

Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition

This is a 5 star visitor attraction and retail complex. Loch Ness is already the most famous lake in the world but our aim is to make it better understood. This is achieved through a fully audio visually guided 35 minute tour. The presentation is theatrical in style and integrates the real tools and archive footage from four decades of research. As part of our educational remit, under 6s go free. The facts are objectively explained and whilst keeping the mystery centre stage, we place it in the context of the loch's very unusual properties. Thus we are endorsed by Scottish Natural Heritage as "A portal to the unique natural phenomenon that is Loch Ness". We offer a huge range of retail onsite and boat cruises on Loch Ness in the summer months. There is also a large cafe and restaurant attached to the site.

Reviewed By 195emmaw

Enquiring about entrance to the exhibition and the boat cruises on offer, we were offered a private boat tour ( the boats are too small to allow for sharing during COVID) for a reasonable price which we accepted. Ali at Deepscan Tours was knowledgeable, articulate, passionate about Loch Ness and provided us with loads of history about Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. If you get the opportunity - take this tour! You won’t be disappointed.
