The 9 best Condos in Scottish Highlands, United Kingdom

April 24, 2023 Janette Largent

The moody, romantic Scottish Highlands start at Loch Lomond just north of Glasgow. Comprising a slew of mountain ranges, this sparsely populated land is best seen by train on the West Highland Line. Mountains, lochs, bright heather and rhododendrons give way to white sand beaches and rugged coves as the train nears Mallaig. For a more active take on the region, hike the West Highland Way or visit the Trossachs National Park. Ben Nevis, a popular climbing spot, looms over the town of Fort William.

Spacious, clean, bright apartment near the river. Parking garage attached. Worked perfectly for our trip! When I didn’t spot the entrance to garage ( jet lag) the kind office staff came down and led me from street to destination. ( it is easy to find, mistake was mine.) great restaurants nearby too.

Stayed in Lodge 6 2 bedrooms lovely views of Loch & surrounding mountains.. Though I think lodge could do with a bit of a spruce up settee & cushions had a dog smell on & bath didn't have a slip mat...Kitchen was fully equipped had washer/dryer & dishwasher.. Bedrooms were clean...Had a meal in hotel it was nice but a bit pricey the menu never changed for lunch.. I think in lodge they should provide leaflets on places to visit.. Hot tub was lovely...Enjoyed the break..

The venue offers clean comfortable accommodation a few minutes walk from Aviemore Station. Be aware that you need to be reasonably mobile to access the stairs to 1st floor accommodation and you only get what is in the info. sheet - i.e. their are no leisure facilities on site, but plenty within 10 - 15 minutes walk.

A stunning place to stay

Reviewed By Nick68S

We decided on a short weekend break at short notice and began the internet trawl for somewhere suitable - a cottage/house/villa/lodge to ourselves being the main requirement. After quite a bit of searching on the usual sites with almost no success we found "The Highland Club" and after checking on their website booked "The Nave", Abbey Church, No9 direct with a nice little discount. We had the option of 4 apartments for 2 people and a fenced garden for privacy/peace in The Nave won over a room with a Loch view. Met promptly on arrival by our host and given a guided tour of ground floor & facilities before ending up at our room. Wow - 2 spacious bedrooms (on en-suite) with doors to garden, and a living room/kitchen also with door onto garden. All the rooms were clean and well presented, with toiletries, linen and everything you need - a full range of kitchen items including Nutribullet, scales, salad spinner (stuff i didn't know I even needed on holiday) as well as a starter stock of water, milk, tea, coffee, wine, fruit, snacks, rice, pasta & noodles. Garden was lovely & peaceful with sun from just after midday and also kids toys. Maybe technically a pest, but we had a family of newborn rabbits in to nibble the grass and assortment of birds including a couple of ducks visit - peaceful to watch and entertainment of you take kids along. It's well worth exploring the rest of the ex-Monastery as it's stunning to look at. Indoor facilities include a small gym, pool/sauna/steam room (download the Highland Club app or scan the QR codes to book 1-hr slots), a lounge with full size snooker and pool tables, table tennis table and an outdoor giant chess board within the cloisters. In the grounds there's also a cricket pitch, tennis nets and a kids playground. If that's not enough, you can walk down the steps to the shores of Loch Ness. The Boathouse restaurant is worth a visit - if it's warm enough you can eat outdoors but wise to book a table indoors as quite a breeze can blow in from the Loch in the evening. Although the entire complex wasn't fully booked up, it still felt very peaceful and uncrowded Fort Augustus village is only a 2-3 minute walk away. Adequate parking on site and if (like us) you have an EV, there's a PodPoint charger for guest use.

I hope I caught them on a bad week, as reviews on Booking.com are generally better than the stay we had. First off the positives, so you can make a decision. Very centrally positioned on a quiet side street, with parking close by. Walking distance to town centre and loads of restaurants, pubs and clubs (see my review of De Vitas) Lovely comfy bed, equally comfy huuuge sofa. Lots of hot water, and the shower was pretty good. Now the problems. Possibly covid related. A month before our visit I tried to contact to make sure all OK. No reply to phone or email. Website not working. I sat for two hours on the Booking.com chat line to see if they could help. No reply on the numbers they had. They assured me that the place had people staying so it would probably be OK. Which is nit good if you turn up and have to sleep in the car. Later that week I found a number on the website and a female voice agreed that the booking was OK. So we get there Saturday, at the required time. No one to meet and greet. I knocked on door of no 1 and had to open it and shout. Lady came and said we were in next door. So off we went.. Door locked. Maybe we enter through the garden. Nope scaffolding and warning that builder working on roof. Back to no 1. Apparently we should have had an email. We hadnt. She showed us to the key security locker, and we managed to get in. First impressions have to say really good. Nice shower room/loo, nice bedroom and sitting room. All nice light wood, except sofa of course. Lovely and clean. Big Tele with Sky. However. No directions on how to use Sky, Tele, oven, hob, microwave. Could these not have been emailed as other renters have? No indication about which rubbish went to recycling, which bins to use. No password for wifi. I emailed via Booking.com, but still await a reply. Last day, wanting to watch football, Sky fell down.I spent two hours following on screen instructions, gave up, went next door, no-one in. So I spent a half hour getting logged on to BT wifi. By which time I had missed the match. And the water heater. At first I thought I was hearing water being drawn in other apartments. It just went on and on, then stopped for ten minutes, and started up again. I suspect that we could have turned it off at one of he neon switches in the kitchen area. But no details given! This place could be such a resource with a bit more hands on. Im sorry folks, but I value my integrity as a reviewer, so have to tell it like it is.
