The 9 Best City Tours in Maryland, United States

April 19, 2022 Emerita Lamoureux

Maryland is known as “America in Miniature” because of its great variations in topography and culture. This makes it a perfect east coat travel destination for those who would like to experience a little bit of everything. From amusement parks, to beaches, to mountains and historical sites, there is plenty to see and do. Each region of Maryland provides its own unique and fun activities to do. If you're headed for some fun in the sun in Ocean City on its eastern coast, be sure not to miss the Ocean City Beach, the Boardwalk, or Trimper's Rides and Amusement Park for an all-ages fun experience. Central Maryland is home to a Six Flags theme park, the Annapolis Golf Club, and countless hubs of art and culture such as the African Art Museum and Annapolis Opera, Inc. Heading to western Maryland? It is perfect for lovers of nature and the outdoors, with the Washington Monument State Park, Wisp Resort ski slopes, and the spectacular Muddy Creek Falls.

This evening tour was a highlight of our recent visit to DC. Eddie knows the landscape and history intimately and covers both with wit, wisdom and personality. His detailed discussion of the Sept. 11 plane attack on the Pentagon and nearby neighborhood as we circled the area was something I’ll never forget. This is a smaller more intimate “insider” tour with better access than the big-bus tours. Visiting the capital and WH Christmas trees was a bonus on our tour. The ride back to the hotel after the tour was also much appreciated. Highly recommend this tour.

The Korean Memorial was my favorite, but Tom did a great job with all of the monuments. Our friends had been on Tom's tour before but he added a different monument for them to see. His knowledge of everything concerning the monuments and the city made the tour special for all of us - two VA residents, one frequent visitor to DC and a newbie who had never visited DC before. We had such a great time we booked an additional tour with DC Military Tours & Tom.

On this evening walking tour you will stroll the historic streets of Georgetown and hear long ago tales of tragedy, romance and lore.  With its architecture, pedigree and ambiance, Georgetown is a lovely place to visit.  However, the houses, churches and cemeteries of this tony neighborhood are still haunted by their past.  Take a walk with me and find out why…

Eddie was a fantastic tour guide and driver. Loved that it was just our family in his mini-van - it was like a family friend giving us a personal tour. In addition to the main attractions around the Mall and Tidal Basin, it was a treat to get to venture across the bridge to the US Marine's memorial as well as the Pentagon 9/11 memorial. My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful 3 hour tour of Antietam. Fred had lots of great stories to help us visualize this big day in our history. I have very little knowledge compared to my husband who enjoys reading & visiting many battle fields. Fred made this a great learning experience for both of us!! I highly recommend this tour for any novice or person with great knowledge & interest in the civil war.
