See ‘Sound of Music’ filming locations, Obersalzberg, and the Austrian Lakes on a private day trip from Salzburg. The action-packed day includes visits to Schloss Leopoldskron, Hellbrunn Castle, Lake Wolfgangsee, and Mondsee — all sites immortalized in the ‘Sound of Music’ film. Travel to Obersalzberg, too, and learn about the mountain retreat during the days of Hitler’s Third Reich. Access to the Eagle’s Nest isn’t included, but there’s ample time for you to visit it, if you wish. From November until about May 10th (depends on the snow conditions), the Eagle's Nest direct access road is closed, alternatively we offer to visit the Rossfeld summit instead. The Sound of Music hiking scene was filmed at Rossfeld. From this vantage point, soak in panoramic views of the stunning Austrian and Bavarian Alps and the nearby Eagle's Nest. Feel free to choose this option also when Eagle's Nest is opened if you prefer a much less crowded, more local site than the Eagle's Nest.

Inclusions: Professional local private guide, Hotel pickup and drop-off, Guaranteed to skip the long lines, Private tour

Exclusions: Bus and elevator to the Eagle's Nest, EUR 16,50 p.p.

The hot tip for us on this day was letting MCM do the driving and pick the itinerary. We took some back roads that we never would have found past farms with amazing alpine views and learned a lot about local life and the area. We were able to tailor the trip to our interests and could have done some guided hiking - another option the company offers that we would do next time. Awesome lunch on a terrace with a view and fun off the beaten path trip!

Take a private guided tour from Salzburg and after our drive through some spectacular countryside, we can go up to the famous Eagles nest a Third Reich-era building erected atop the summit of the Kehlstein, a rocky outcrop that rises above the Obersalzberg near the town of Berchtesgaden. Depending on the season ( open only mid may to the end of september) or stroll through the traditional village of Berchtesgaden and have a break for lunch, followed by a lot of action and fun in the salt mines: you can dress up in miners cloth, ride a train into the heart of the mountain, slide down giant chutes from one gallery to the next, glide across a salt lake on a raft, and learn all about salt in the mines of Berchtesgaden.

Inclusions: Bottle of water, Hotel/airport pick up and drop off, Private driver with a limousine, Private local guide, All Fees and Taxes
