Viimsi (German: Wiems) is a small borough (Estonian: alevik) in Harju County, northern Estonia. It's located about 9 km (6 mi) northeast of the centre of Tallinn, just north of Tallinn's subdistrict Merivälja. Viimsi is the administrative centre of Viimsi Parish. As of 2011 Census, the settlement's population was 2,341.

The sea hike on a RIB will take you to Naissaar, an island with a picturesque nature and unique history in the Bay of Tallinn.The boat ride to the island takes about 30 minutes. The guided tour on the military truck is about 1.5 to 3 hours.Catering, accommodation and other activities can also be organised.Useful information: Our home port is the Rohuneeme small port in Viimsi. The price is with a departure from the home port. Pirita Harbour and Admiralty Basin are also nearby.

Estonian War Museum

The Estonian national war museum was restored on 1 March 2001 under the official name of Laidoner Museum. The expositions in the museum provide an overview of the Estonian War of Independence and it is also possible to see the exhibition “Estonia and the Cold War” there. Through the text, picture, sound and video material you can see all the most important events of the Cold War. While visiting the exhibition, you will become a part of the exhibition – you can record your name and the time of your visit on the Berlin Wall or put your knowledge to the test in a quiz-questionnaire.Interesting to know:- The end of the Cold War meant the restoration of independence for Eastern European countries, incl. Estonia.

Museum of Coastal Folk

The Museum of Coastal Folk is situated in the ancient seaside village of Pringi in Viimsi, just a 30-minute drive from central Tallinn. Here, in a cosy old schoolhouse, the museum has found a home for itself, a place to demonstrate the harmony of land, sea and man meeting, a place to preserve the beauty of simplicity. Here, on Viimsi peninsula, the land ends. You cannot go any further on foot, and you don't want to go back. Exhibitions as well as educational and artistic programmes show the many faces of Estonia's coastal folk, their history and culture, and the present seaside culture. You can count on smelling the waft of tar and hearing fishermen's jokes as well as sailors' words of wisdom! A nice sea-themed play room and the seal-boy Vigri are present to give little visitors an appreciation of the seaside lifestyle, so essential to everyone who lives in a sea-state. The Island of Naissaar, in the 11th century records referred to as Terra feminarum, in 1297 Narghetn, later Nargoo (1509), also Nargen (1519), is an island located in the Gulf of Tallinn 8.5 km from mainland. The area of the island is 1,662.8 ha and it is 11 km in length and 4 km in width. The island mainly covered by forest has been a nature park since 1995. There is a hiking trail of 9 km in length in the south-eastern and southern part of the island with 13 described places of observation. The hiking trail runs from the port towards the south. The trail has been signed with white rectangles that have been provided with a blue crosswise stripe. You will find the signs mainly on the trees and stones.

Tadu Nature Study Trail

The 3.5 km long trail is located by Randvere Road, Viimsi Rural Municipality, Harju County, and it runs along a forest path. It takes 1.5–2 hours to complete the trail. There are 9 points of interest on the trail. At the beginning of the trail there is a little car park and an information stand with a map and introductory text of the trail and there is a picnic site at the end of the trail. The trail ends just by Randvere Road and the beginning of the trail is just 800 metres from there.The trail runs in the forest and special focus is on the introduction of different tree species and forest management stages – what, how and when to do.
