Of all the rare museums I have visited, this is indisputably the best. This farm is a very good way to learn a lot about ostriches and how an ostrich farm works. You can apply for a tour with a guide that shows you around the whole farm from the Chicks barn to Male pens and tells you tons of facts about the huge birds themselves and even convinces an male ostrich to do its special mating dance (very comical)! After the elaborate tour, you are free to look in any place of the farm again and even buy ostrich-souvenirs at the shop and eat ostrich meat and cakes at the cafe!

Old town on the river which has a lot of local history. Some nice fashionable shops, Lots of cafes and restaurants, in fact I don't think I've seen so many in such a small area. Local museum in the centre of town worth a visit, Good views from the top of the tower.
Very good fish market. Take a cool box and buy your fish here.

We cycled from Brugge to Sluis and had lunch at this little gem. I had delicious cheese croquettes with salad and fries and my husband enjoyed the broccoli soup with melted Brie with pine nuts an apple slices on toasted black bread. All washed down with a glass of Jupiler beer. Yum!

Een klein herdenkingsmonument dat herinnert aan het drama dat zich hier in de vlakbij gelegen tweedelige hoeve heeft afgespeeld op 20 oktober 1944.
De oprichter van het gedenkteken was een Engelse oud-tankcommandant Martin Reagan, die het ongeluk bij de verzamelplaats heeft overleefd. Dit monument volledig met privégeld opgericht.
Het verhaal:
Bij een zeer zware ontploffing van brandstofgranaten, in duistere omstandigheden, zijn hier in één klap bijna 40 Engelse en Canadese soldaten omgekomen. Slachtoffers zijn begraven op nabij gelegen het Adegem Cemetery – België.
Een 19 tal soldaten zijn bij deze ontploffing gewoon verdwenen, opgegaan in het niets…
Toen een nachtmerrie voor de legerstaf die met vraagtekens zat over dit tragisch ongeval, nu een vredige plaats. Oorlogsgruwel… is een deel van de strijd voor Vrede.

Deze locatie herinnert aan de terugkomst van de Nederlands koningin Wilhelmina die pas op 13 maart 1945 voor het eerst terug voet zette op Nederlandse bodem.
“De Landsvrouwe keerde terug tot haar volk”.
Dit na hevige gevechten en de daarop volgende bevrijding door het Canadese leger.
Een zuil in tufsteen van 4.80 meter symboliseert “De Nederlandse Maagd”.
Een brencarriër ( = klein rupsvoertuig van het Canadese leger) herinnert de bevrijding van Aardenburg, Eede en Sluis.
Tevens worden op deze locatie een veertigtal burgerslachtoffers herdacht die omgekomen zijn tijdens de woelige gevechten.
Weer een plek om even bij stil te staan. De tol die voor vrijheid koste ook hier burgerslachteroffers…

Bij bezoek aan dit gezellige winkeltje werden wij hartelijk ontvangen.
Ik wilde een lekkere whisky en werd daar bij heel goed geholpen door de eigenaresse. Zeer goede kennis van zaken en ook mogelijkheden om het een en ander te proeven. Kortom top service
Ik kom hier zeker terug . Ook de wijnen zijn zeer goed vertegenwoordigd ook zoals de vele soorten gin met bijbehorende tonivs
