It is located on the banks of the rivers Sieg and Agger, 10 kilometres from the former seat of West German government Bonn and 26 kilometres from Cologne. The population of the city was 39,192 in the 2013 census.

My 2nd youngest boy Joel asked me if there was a minimum age for diving. There is a general recommendation, but all of us need to be lectured on safety and tec-talk. This can happen at a dive training and that's what we we getting past Saturday in Siegburg. A full 8 hours of theory and 3 or 4 dives in an inside pool, 20m deep at the max. We had a weeks time of preparing with 200 pages of base-training manuals, but there is so much material that I would not recommend to confront kids under 14 to try to take exams. We also found out that 8 years is too young for reasonable training. However, 10, 12 and 13 years boys and girls can attend the underwater tutorials surprisingly well. What we gained is glowing eyes and a brain load of imressions to build a diver career on. What we paid is hefty, but comprehendable when considering all the suits and gear rental and 4 full air tanks consumed.

Erstmals haben wir einen dieser "Escape Räume" ausprobiert und waren begeistert von der Gestaltung und dem gut organisierten Team. Hilfreiche Tipps gab es tatsächlich immer dann, wenn man irgendwie nicht richtig weiter kam. Man taucht sofort in das Spiel ein und auch in unserem "fortgeschrittenen" Alter ohne die Teilnahme von Kindern hat es allen sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Jetzt haben wir wieder eine gute Geschenkidee für unsere Neffen und Nichten.

The Abbey has lovely views out over the Rhine/Sieg area. If you are in Siegburg, it is worth visiting the Abbey just for the views.
I found my visit a little sad, though, because I learned while visiting that the last monks had left the Abbey in 2011 due to a shrinking population of young men attracted to the Benedictine community. So much faith and effort over so many centuries, and now abandoned--sigh. The Diocese of Cologne has taken over the site and is planning to turn it into some kind of retreat/convention center. For the time being, most of the monastery (including the former restauarant) is closed to the public. The Abbey church is very attractive, and has a holy atmosphere. A very good place to sit for a time and set the world's cares aside.

This is a nice place for a dinner with a small group or alone on a business trip. The outdoor patio. is great under the trees. One time there was live guitar music. Food is nice, not just the tapas. I had a great fish dish this week.

Ich hab vor einiger Zeit 'Norway today' in der Studiobühne gesehen. Ein Zweipersonenstück, dass unglaublich fesselnd, beeindruckend und aufwühlend ist. Großes Lob an das kleine Ensemble.
Die Studiobühne lebt von einer ganz besonderen Atmosphäre, von ihren Schauspielern und ganz besonders von zwei Idealisten, die dies Bühne betreiben. Und ganz nebenbei gibts im Foyer auch noch Siegburgs besten Kaffee.
Das Programm ist ebenso abwechslungsreich wie ungewöhnlich und passt damit perfekt zu diesem wunderbaren Wohnzimmertheater mit den roten Kinosesseln!
Prädikat: hingehen und einen wunderbaren Abend verbringen!

Siegburg ist jetzt nicht riesengroß, aber diese Halle bietet schon ordentlich Plätze (mindestens 1000!).
Entsprechend finden viele Veranstaltungen mit namhaften Künstlern dort statt. Wir waren zur Springmaus - zur Silvesterveranstaltung voll besetzter Saal!
Die Sicht ist super, die Tonanlage könnte besser sein.
Was auffällt: bei einer Veranstaltung mit einer Pause ist der Bereich für die Bewirtung recht klein. Man wartet auf Getränke und am Ende der Veranstaltung ist es fast nicht möglich aufs WC zu kommen.
500 m zu Fuß vom Bahnhof sind o. k., es fährt aber auch ein Bus.
