We headed out from Purmamarca at around 3.30pm after checking in to our AirBnb - the journey takes around 90 minutes each way but you are so busy admiring the countryside that it flies by. You climb through cacti '' fields'' with ever larger cacti, llamas grazing, rocky outcrops of different colours and then right at the end the prize of the beautiful endless salt flats glistening in the distance. If you wish you can walk out onto the flats but bring a towel and a change of footwear. Lots of areas which are safe to leave your car while you pose for photos. We never felt unsafe and spent about 20 minutes there before the drive home again.
