Mamalahoa Hot Tubs & Massage

Reviewed By 1968Travelgirl - Dallas, United States

Just returned home from The Big Island where we went to Mamalahoa Hot Tubs and Massage. We had a wonderful experience from the moment we stepped through the bamboo doors. My husband and I had booked a 30 hot tub with a 90 minute couples massage. We were a little early and greated by Ron, he showed us to our private hot tub and we were actually able to spend 45 minutes there. He then called us to the massage room where we met Suzani and Ann for our massage. This was one of the most relaxing massages we have ever had. Suzani and Ann are experts at their profession. During our massage it started to rain and the sound of the rain just outside our outdoor(but enclosed) room was so relaxing. We highly recommend Mamalahoa Hot Tubs and Massage to anyone that is looking for the most relaxing experience on the Big Island.

My friend who now lives on the Big Island recommended and we (my friend, adult daughter and I) were able to book services during the same time through a phone call. Their services are listed on their webpage. The location is just off the highway and is very relaxed and comfortable, the owner and staff are welcoming, experienced and competent. I have been through a few years of PT & Therapeutic medical massage and I thought that owner Christine is an excellent therapist. The muscle knots & soreness I acquired from the stress of getting out of town and travel were addressed, I wish I has booked earlier after arrival. My friend was happy with one of their salt scrub body treatments. My daughter was happy with massage therapist Jessica. These are competent massage therapists. I highly recommend this spa.

Aloha Massage Academy

Reviewed By sacredbones - Seattle, United States

We’ve been disappointed by so many expensive resort therapy treatments that we were delighted to find Aloha Massage Academy student massages offered south of Kona. We know that student massage can be hit or miss but we felt the gamble wouldn’t be any different than any other travel experience. The price is great: $40 for one hour- $60 for 90 minutes. We took the hour and a half and we’re glad we did. Both of us had stellar experiences. Ashley saw my husband (senior student) and Brandon was my therapist(freshman). My husband and I spent our entire lunch sharing anecdotes about whose experience was better. Both of us described how our therapists were able to identify what we needed and apply techniques suitable to our unique situations. Clearly the owner, Angela Leslee, deserves much credit for establishing this great program and training her students well. They both used music that created a relaxing space but was not intrusive. With eyes closed and attention directed inward, The sounds of indigenous flutes and resonant whale calls more than make up for what might not meet resort ambiance expectations. If you are visiting, I recommend you schedule more than one session between hiking and snorkeling. If you live here, go when ever you can.
