Overlook the strange name and industrial location and head to this puka (Hawaiian for hole). Primarily a fish market they offer catch of the day and house specials. Whatever you order will be generous and tasty. I had ono, crab cake, sea weed salad, and brown rice for about $12! Everything was delicious. More customers are there for take out, but two tables and folding chairs are provided for on site dining. No pretensions here!

Fresh, handmade in-house gelato, pastries & baked goods, 100% Kona Coffee
The greatest difficulty you will experience at this gelato shop is deciding which flavors to choose. They let you sample everything and every flavor is so, so good. You have to try the lilikoi— it’s my favorite and I can’t get anything else when I go!

I loved the fresh, organic local produce! It was a fabulous meal. Even the salad dressings were homemade and made from local herbs. The server was sweet

Little shop off the highway, blink and you miss it.
Good place to stop for a treat as they have some indoor seating and benches outside.
Ice cream tastes really good, can't help but finish it all.
The samples of flavours is awesome, you get a whole spoonful with each one so be sure to share with others.
Ok selection of usual and local/unique flavours. Would be nice if it was double the size (Molokai location is 3-4 times the selection), but the selection there works. Only reason for 4/5 is due to the small selection

We shop Standard Bakery often & love it. Easy to pull up next to the door, jump out & pick up fresh baked goodies, bento boxes for trips, etc. Prices are very reasonable & food is consistently fresh & tasty. Family-operated for many years & they know quality. Looks like a hole in the wall, but don't let it fool 'ya! Near Oshima Surf & Store, on the ocean side of the road. Ono!

Family run restaurant serving ono grinds on the Big Island. Everything is made onsite using fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Open for lunch and dinner, also serve beer & wine which can be enjoyed in our awesome outdoor seating.
Great food--definitely the best restaurant we went to in the Captain Cook area. The Cheesesteak was delicious (and it was not billed as a Philly, so I won't judge it for its authenticity on that front. :) My husband had the pulled pork which was full of flavor but not a mouth-burner--so good. The buns were perfect, the portions were good (not huge, but fine for a midday meal). Liilkoi lemonade was delicous; potato salad was unusual and tasty, and the fruit salad side was generous. Counter and kitchen staff both really friendly. I appreciated the slightly more local vibe (not overrun by mass tourists with an hour long wait). The only downside was that we discovered it on our last day in the area, or we'd have gone again! Will definitely be back next time.

In 1995 with a vision to open a small family "Coffee Cafe" Owner Bob Miyashiro and his wife Gina open the original Keei Cafe in a old former Fish Market in Honaunau, Hawaii on the Big Island. Finally after borrowing enough from their father, Brothers Bob and Dennis along with Sister Joyce the new Keei Cafe was Born in Hokukano. Again with the Brazilian touch for food friendly colors and using local woods, Gina helped create the decor that surrounds the "New" Keei Cafe at Hokukano. Opened in early 2005, the new Cafe features local artist painting and carvings on the walls. Koa table help make the Cafe have a warm and welcome feel perfect for families or guests looking for a resort type meal with a upcounty price. Family owned and operated with the additon of Gina's sister and Brother in Law, Chef Zeze and Batista, in the kitchen to use the freshes local ingredients to prepare creavtive and and delicious menu items with nightly specials. Please come to experience the flavors!
Cafe Ke’ei has been a favorite since before they moved to the current location. As a snowbird I’ve visited three times this season and on each occasion the service has been abysmal. On the most recent visit five salads were forgotten and our entrees arrived tepid. Beverages weren’t refilled. It was difficult to even get the attention of a server. Cafe Keei seems to be primarily a family affair, perhaps that what limits the size of the staff. The problem here can easily be corrected with a couple of extra servers.

Looking for authentic Hawaiian food and found it here. Laulau pork or chicken, Salmon rice (out of Poi) and Kalua pig and cabbage. Cooked to perfection. I take pride in cooking pork either smoking and grilling, but this was really the best pork I have ever had. Steamed and was so moist and seasoned just right.

I think it is the third generation that is running the place now. The tempura is HOT and extra crispy with just the right amount of breading. The beef terriyaki is sliced thin, deeply flavored and has a satisfying chew. The miso soup uses white miso; warm, slightly sweet, rich. The rice is perfect. The fish is so fresh is practically wiggles on the plate. Even the parking is good.

Found Annies by accident. Stopped in for dinner. Nice atmosphere and the service was excellent. The food was very good and served in a timely manner and hot. I have the sword fish and chips and the wife had their cheese burger. Good sized portion of fish and the burger was more than she could eat. Had a local beer with dinner, excellent and the wife drank a white pineapple cider from a local brewery. All in all a very good meal. Will go again next time on the island. Also very easy to find.
