Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral

Reviewed By MarriedAnd-Over-50 - Mission, Canada

In the centre of Kaposvar facing Kossuth Lajos Square you find this very beautiful looking Cathedral. It was rebuilt in 1886 in a "New Roman Style" and when you think of other Church Styles in the world it does have a "new" look, doesn't it? It was elevated to Cathedral Status in 1993 when Kaposvár became a bishop's seat. On the South Side of the building exterior there is a sculpture by Janos Bory ( there is a castle that he built in 40 summers in Székesfehérvár, an artist and University professor) The St. Stephen Well, adding beauty to the Cathedral and more to see in downtown.
