Have just visited this establishment for afternoon tea. What a special occasion it was. Excellent food superbly served in a friendly atmosphere. Food could not be surpassed with as much Yorkshire tea as could be drunk. The special treat was sparkling elderflower water served with the meal. Thank you for an excellent meal.

R Yates & Sons Ltd

Reviewed By johnhouston2 - Knaresborough, United Kingdom

Perhaps it’s an age thing, but I love browsing in hardware shops and this one in Malton (down by the station) is as good as it gets. Actually, by describing it as a hardware shop I’m doing it a disservice, as it is much more than that, and the title of Country Store as used by a previous reviewer is perhaps more accurate. The style and layout is decidedly old-fashioned and perfectly chaotic, with little rooms and sections all over the place, which makes browsing all the more enjoyable. Oh - and when you actually buy something, the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.

What a lovely, thoughtfully put together place! We visited Wolds Way with our 17 month old toddler, and she loved it! Lots of space to run around and plenty to look at, and the miniature train ride was great. I think this would be good for much older kids too, it’s well organised with lots of interesting areas such as the nature maze with outdoor games and orienteering, bug hotels, bird hide, playground and the mud and sand kitchen. It’s a relaxing place to wander through the wild flower meadows and lavender rows. Staff were lovely and it felt safe and clean in the current pandemic. Large picnic area too - recommend you bring one at the moment as I think the current food offerings are limited.
