We arrived in Sintra looking for a reasonably priced half-day tour of the area. António was available and we were excited with his plans to take us from the train station, to all the palaces (including some we didn’t know about), to the beaches and then to Cabo da Roca, the western most point in Europe. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with António. He was extremely knowledgeable, knew all the best places to go, including a local Portuguese diner for lunch. He always managed to find the best drop-off points, and provided insider information to make the most of our time in Sintra. We sincerely appreciated his expert driving, good humor, patience and caring disposition. Highly recommended.

Antonio picked us up at the train station and from the moment we entered his van, until the moment he dropped us off, he was a delight! He has a wealth of knowledge about the area and its history; and we were entertained by his stories and anecdotes the entire day. Antonio helped us decide which sites we wanted to see - there are so many in Sintra, you can't see them all in one day! We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Antonio, and will definitely choose Classic Sintra Tours and Antonio again when we return for more adventures in Portugal!

The magical and charming town of Sintra has been for centuries the summer retreat of Portuguese royalty and nobility, and achieved international acclaim in the XIX Century Romantic period. I will guide you through a carefully chosen selection of monuments and sites over the course of four hours. The goal is to experience why this Unesco World Heritage Site has proved to be so captivating for lovers, royals and storytellers on the past centuries. We'll meet at Lisbon's central Rossio Station and together, we'll take the train out to Sintra. This has been, and still is, my favorite way to reach and explore Sintra, avoiding traffic jams and parking problems. It is also more sustainable. After the 4 hours walk, you may choose to return to Lisbon, or spend the rest of your day in Sintra. I will then share my local knowledge and suggest tips for food and explain the best way to explore Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle, Monserrate Palace, or Cabo da Roca.

We had the great pleasure of meeting Rui Martins in Lourinha, Portugal in March 2020. Our group of 4 hired his company, West Vagabond Tours twice for all day tours to Sintra, and then Fatima, Obidos, and Nazaré. Rui’s English is excellent, and his passion for his country and its people is clearly apparent every minute of the day. We particularly liked how he customized each trip to make sure we got the tour that we wanted. His knowledge of Portugal, its people, history, geography, climate, industry, and culture is exceptional. We truly all got to know him so well that we are happy to call him a friend. We will without question use West Vagabond next time we are in Portugal, and would not hesitate for 1 second to recommend Rui to anyone looking for tours in Lisbon, Sintra and central Portugal. Our trip to Portugal was cut short by the CV Pandemic and we had to find our way back to Lisbon to catch our revised flights home. It was a stressful time. Rui offered to drive the 4 of us down to Lisbon (about an hour) in his van, for the cost of 4 public transport bus tickets. (about €24 total). Knowing that we were concerned that our flights might not actually take place he told us to call him, and if we needed any assistance or to be picked up again that we should call him. It was an incredibly kind gesture at a time where it meant so much.
