On a nice day there are little paths, a "dinosaur bone dig" and playground. The live animals are truly fun to learn about and the staff are very friendly and able to answer questions.

Scott's Run Nature Preserve

I love Scott’s run because it’s a short hike to the Potomac River. Children and dogs on leash are welcome and the leaves are fantastic in the Fall. Just remember that you are going downhill to the river do you will be coming back uphill. You can also climb up to a small waterfall. The 11year old granddaughter and the dogs loved it.

Hidden Pond Nature Center

Reviewed By WPLandry - Fairfax, United States

We followed several of the trails (blue to green to yellow) throughout the nature center. We saw a fox, deer, and other small animals as we walked. It is a fairly easy walk, not steep or anything. It was quiet and we truly felt in touch with nature as we were walking through.

Occoquan Regional Park

Reviewed By cpl1775 - Herndon, United States

We came to the park just to walk around and found ourselves walking all the way to historic Occoquan! It's about 1.5 miles each way, but what a lovely walk. Then after walking back to the park, it was a perfect afternoon stroll by the water and just sitting on the benches. The cafe smelled great and everyone there seemed really content. There are several trails to roam of varying lengths, boat rentals, the cafe, and some great open spaces. A really nice way to spend the day outdoors.

This part of the park was very quiet. We only saw two people the whole time we were there. The trails are well-maintained. There are animals to see and hear. Trails are well-marked, so you know where you are going. I would definitely recommend it and we will definitely be back.
