"Silver moon" is a metallic ode to Olavi Virta, to his life and his universal, unique genius for interpreting Finnish melanchioly and dreams and for music in general. The memorial statue depicts the course of Olavi Virta´s life. and the rhythm of music, movement and contrast, dreams and reality, starting from the ground and ending in the clouds, in drems and in outer space.

The Old Church Memorial was erected in 1929 on the site of Hartola's old wooden church built in 1691-1693. The church was moved to Pertunmaa in 1928 as part of the church still in use. The memorial was designed by Ilmari Wirkkala, father of Tapio Wirkkala.
