The main building of the University of Debrecen was built bw 1927 – 1932. When inaugurated this was the third biggest building in Hungary after the Parliament and the Castle of Buda (both to be found in the capital). It is really monumental and still serves as the home of numerous University Departments and other establishments. Its central court, a multi-storey, glass-covered atrium is a unique sight and impresses the visitor being an internationally relevant architectural gem. It is home to the regular doctoral degree award ceremonies and other celebrations. It is worth just to take a stroll within the building, or around at the carefully manicured park. You are free to discover the many adjacent old or new buildings of one of Europe’s nicest university campus.

It's a quiet, calm place in the centre of the town, near the Spa. Before Christmas it was decorated with christmas trees and a reindeer with a sledge. It's got a special atmosphere especially in the evening when everything is illuminated. There are some cafes and restaurants nearby. we liked walking there.

To the advise of our landlord we took a bus instead of driving to this park. There are trolleys and buses that take you there and it was easy and relaxed short trip. We noticed how many people, including families who chose to go to the park riding their bikes. Bike riders have priority when crossing a street in Hungary and drivers are extremely aware of them. Some bike riders don't even look at the traffic and they cross the roads and the drivers just make a full stop. Very friendly for bike riders the entire country. Free admission to the park ( no bikes inside of course) and a fantastic atmosphere. There were stands from different parts of Europe with food, so there was a lot to choose. An area of beers only, local food, deserts, ice cream, other beverages, candy, souvenirs. Of course this is a small forest in the middle of the city with several very large man-made ponds. Now the amazing thing to me was the incredibly large number of koi fish, I have never seen so many koi at once, there were for sure millions, even some over a foot long. Just unbelievable. People feed them freely bread and nobody complains, there are no signs of not to feed them and the koi just love to be fed. The competition between the koi and ducks for food is just incredible. The koi are on top of each other bringing their little mouths off the water, the ducks are swimming at full speed when a little something lands close to where they are, it is just amazing to see. Locals bring bread from home just for this activity and of course little children get to throw bread and watch this show. The walkways in the park are beautifully tiled, wide and nicely curved. There is an amphitheatre and that evening there was a show. A tribute to the Beattles. I would go back to this park any time. Debrecen is a great city.

This landmark bridge is probably the most iconic characteristic building of the Hortobágy region and more importantly the national park. It is the entry point of the Hortobágy National Park as well. According to local stories and anecdotes, the fact that it has 9 holes come from the old times, when the most well-known rogue ("betyar") escaped from the prison, 9 women laid down between the 2 banks of the river and he could thus cross the bridge. Definitely worth's a visit, especially that you can't actually miss it when entering the park.

Location and investment The project is located in the historical city centre in the neighbourhood of the County Hall, the City Hall and the House of Culture. Once the plot was divided by the Dózsa György street into two squares. The western part is called Jókai square, the eastern part Nagy Imre square. The project targeted to unify the two places into one object and function. According to the concept the two building parts are connected by a generous bridge of more levels. The architectural form created an imposant, high level building complex. In the basement two parking levels have been built where 640 parking lots are available. The planning and design on behalf of the investor was made by Bán Ferenc, Ybl and Kossuth price awarded architect and the Architect Office of „A-Studio 90".
