Museo Nacional Estancia Jesuitica Alta Gracia y Casa del Virrey Liniers

This place is interesting by any standard, but your experience will be totally different if you arrange a guided tour of the premises. We had an amazing guide who gave us in-depth understanding of the politics, economy, history, architecture and art of this place as well as the whole area. You come out so enriched - the tour was supposed to be an hour but lasted two and all was free of charge. If you have time after this visit, do watch the movie "The Mission" with Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro (1986) - you will have a good understanding of what really happened here during the time of the Jesuits. La Gruta is a peaceful place to ruminate and enjoy the surrounding area. Several years ago, the little chapel on the top of the hill became the focus of what locals called a "miracle" when the resident priest had removed the statue of the virgin for a cleaning and discovered upon its return that a mysterious image of a floating virgin took the statues place. Take a look and see what you think... Is it a miracle?!!

Museo Del Che Guevara

Reviewed By 538andrez - Curitiba, Brazil

In the 1930s, the family of youthful Ernesto Guevara moved here because a doctor recommended the dry climate for his asma. Though Che lived in several houses – including the house in Rosario, where he was born – the family’s primary residence was Villa Beatriz, which was purchased by the city and restored as this museum. It's cozy interior is now adorned with a photographic display of Che’s life, and a couple of huge photographs commemorating a recent visit from Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez. If you think you’ve been on the road for a while, check out the map detailing Che’s travels through Latin America – whatever you think of the man’s politics, you have to admit he was well traveled.
