Shakespeare Inn

The Shakespeare is a newly refurbished English pub, located in the heart of Kendal Town Centre - the gateway to the remarkable and breathtaking Lake District National Park. We offer a warm welcome, a wide range of traditional cask ales, good quality home made, locally supplied food, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to our guests. Traditional roast dinner on a Sunday plus a snack and sandwich menu at lunchtime, we really do have something for everyone. We also offer quality and affordable en-suite B&B accommodation in our really cosy converted cottages. These are located in a courtyard at the rear of the main Buildings, many with their own front door! A peaceful nights sleep is guaranteed! We also offer free parking through the narrow archway, subject to availability. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. So, business or pleasure, you will be well looked after at the Shakespeare Inn. Cheers! Lynne and David

Disappointed

Reviewed By bogmalobobby

Went here with another couple for a change, it was a Friday night and not busy, Drinks were served to the table we ordered from the menu, only 1 starter which came in reasonable time, but then we waited an hour for the mains one of which was Gammon and Chips it was like a child’s portion, I had venison steak with New Potatoes but were just little tiny cubes about 10 of them and was only warm not hot , £165 for four of us definitely well overpriced for the food and service.

Lovely pub, just not for food.

Reviewed By EnglandBlondie80

Lovely location, great drinks, helpful staff and variety of areas to sit in. Unfortunately the food wasn’t great. It was over priced, frozen chips, soggy pastry, minimal gravy (runny and poured all over the meal) and some form of lumpy non fresh mash potato. Would go for drinks again, but not food. Such a shame to not have better quality food for the price paid.

Travelodge Kendal Town Centre

Dirty bathroom. Wouldn't stay here again

Reviewed By symbol-soup

The cleanliness of the bathroom was terrible. Vomit on the toilet base and hair on the floor. It hadn't been cleaned correctly. Bedding was tattered. The rest of the hotel was well looked after. Breakfast was also good. When we reported this to reception we were offered an evoucher against another stay. We declined as we have no intention of staying at another Travelodge.

Gilpin Bridge Inn, Levens

From beginning of November 2015 the Gilpin Bridge Inn has been taken over by locals & we plan to put this Inn back on the map. We have 8 letting rooms all with ensuite. A function room for your parties, meetings etc. A great selection on our menus both lunch & evening and on a Sunday we serve a traditional sunday lunch which can be accompanied by a cheeky pint or maybe a cup of coffee. When visiting you will only find the staff with a big smile, a great sense of humour & more than happy to help you so please visit & make yourself at home in our traditional country inn.

Lakes Break

Reviewed By LizzieM393

Just back from a fab 5 days on the lakes. We were gifted from our children a break and their choice was spot on for us. From fabulous Sunday roasts to filling English breakfasts everything was just great. All staff were amazing, the team works so hard and the landlord and land lady are on hand for anything even the extra teabags when you've run out. This Inn was chosen as it was close to a fast charger for our car. If anything this is all I would add to this hotel would be a charge point. Thanks again to you all.

Popped in here on our way through to Keswick. It was a gem of a find. Staff were excellent. The young gentleman who took our purser was lovely. Food just as nice! Couldn’t fault it. Wish it was more local! Dog friendly too. We had the burger and fish and chips.

Well worth a visit and wear your stretchy trousers if you’re eating!

We visited the Punch Bowl last week to celebrate a family birthday occasion Staff were very welcoming and pleasant, plenty of choice for food and drink and the food was superb! Portions were brilliant and definitely ‘home cooked’ food. Highly recommended.

The Lodge @ Carus Green

It was ok

Reviewed By Z4392GNdebk

This isn’t a hotel. We had one room with en-suite in one of the lodges and luckily there was no one in the room across from us because it’s only built to domestic standards and it could potentially be very noisy. Also it isn’t manned overnight and you do have to get there before the staff go home - around 6pm I think. Anyway this is all in the info I guess but it is easy to miss. So just be aware of what you are ‘renting’.

Had a great stay at Hillside, Made to feel very welcome and given advice on local things to see and transport links. Rooms spotlessly clean and warm. Very nice breakfast on offer and would only stay at Hillside if I come back to Kendal
