Reviewed By W5666ATjackdLovely hotel in a fantastic location. Turquoise waters and a beach on your doorstep and an easy hike through wild flowers, herbs and Greek villages in the other direction. Perfect. The owners were great too, accommodating, helpful and keen for us to have a good time. This was particularly important because we came before the tourism season had fully begun. They helped us find places that were open for food and drink, and directed us accurately how to get to places on the island with our rented car (which they also organised). On that note, I HIGHLY recommend people to visit Lakki on Amorgos BEFORE tourism is in full swing (i.e. mid April). This was amazing, we had beaches to ourselves all week and the weather was great too. Top marks all around! Thanks

The place is calm, the room is nice and very clean , and more important, the people running the business are more than kind. They were helpful and smiling. Right next to this hotel there is a nice place to eat, running by the same family member. Really nice as well. We had a great time.

Just 200 metres from the beach and port of Aegiali, Nostos Studios offers self-catering accommodation with a balcony and free WiFi. The property is surrounded by a lovely garden. Airy and air-conditioned, all studios at Nostos have a light blue kitchenette with cooking hobs and mini fridge. Other facilities include a flat-screen TV and hairdryer. Some studios offer views of the Aegean Sea. The scenic main town of Amorgos (Chora) with several restaurants and small bars is at a distance of 15 km. Katapola, the second port of the island is 25 km away. Free parking is available on site.

Reviewed By vincentParisFranceSpotless quiet room with a small balcony (with a beautiful bougainvillea) overlooking Aegiali. Very nice staff. Very affordable. The room is cleaned everyday. There is a small kitchenette if you want to cook something. Nothing to fault.

Reviewed By cah1660This family-run property was as delightful as the pictures had led us to hope for and we loved our room with a view looking down onto the picturesque Aegiali bay. Although breakfast was not yet provided during our stay, I have absolutely no doubt it will be lovely. You need to be fit to go up and down into the town but it's well worth it! Thank you for your warm hospitality!

The staff were very nice and helped us with everything we needed. We really didn’t want to leave this place. Location was also excellent. I would definitely recommend Muses hotel.

Not for the faint-hearted!
Reviewed By 0piumCycladic tradition meets Tuscany in these unique and detailed oriented, hand-crafted fully-stocked stone-built self-catering accommodations, furnished with elegant handmade items and family heirlooms of the owner, featuring stunning views, regular housekeeping and great ambience - in premium rates. The experience economy of the service industry though, is only partly responsible for the aesthetics, design and appearance of an establishment, which, if not followed by an equally high quality of customer service reflected in its price, compromises the experience. When I contacted the Italian owner 6 months in advance to inquire about a 3 week stay explaining that it will not be a holiday as I work from home and needed a place with proper amenities and wifi to stay for the month, I was excited to get an offer for a studio. So as the week was 800 euro in august, I stayed 3 weeks with the last four days falling in the lower season, which makes the last week cost less than 800. The owner though calculated the last week on a daily rate rather than weekly because of the rate change occurring in the middle of the week, so it appeared that I was given a big discount when in fact it was the natural discount I would get for a weekly rate. I didn’t really pay attention at the time because I was too excited with my find, made a deposit of 500 and even turned down the weekly housekeeping service to express my gratitude for the generous offer. Shortly after I discovered that the boat tickets for my return date were already sold out so I had to move my dates forward to a lower season period. When I requested that, thinking that this would be ideal for them also, my request was met with suspicion and I was accused that I was trying to rip them off when it was actually releasing the high season dates for someone else to book! A bit confused and unsettled and in an effort to avoid further misunderstanding, which I assumed was probably based on the language barrier, (he speaks broken Greek and no English) I managed to find a transit boat out via another island and kept my original dates. I also tried desperately to find a review of this place but there was none which is why it is important for those considering this place to be prepared. On my arrival at the island, after a 9hour boat ride and 3 hours of sleep, I was directed to the village’s parking lot which is 350 meters from the parking. Due to this being a long-term stay, I had 2 duffles and ten more bags of which I received help only for one of the duffle bags. I was forced to unload my car on my own, in a number of trips back and forth in the heat and an uphill half-paved street with steps. It is important to note here that I have a visible disability and a prosthetic left arm. I was also denied assistance with my bags on my departure day. The place is located in the outskirts of the lower part of the village, which makes the ascend to the village square a serious uphill trek, definitely not for the faint hearted, equivalent to about 8 stories of a building. There are a few small cafes and restaurants in a 5-6 min distance, though, as well as a small super market. Deliveries to the island are once a week so produce finishes fast in high season so even finding fruits was like a treasure hunt. The owner was generally helpful and available with everything, and even offered a glass of complimentary champagne on a celebration day so when there was no wifi due to a technical problem, for the first 10 days - which is half of my stay - and I had to trek and hike to find decent wifi to work, unable to schedule skype meetings, etc, I thought that requesting a compensation would be expected, in any form that was. I was wrong. When I mentioned it I was attacked in a hostile and bullying attitude. Apparently because of the alleged discount I was given for my stay I was not allowed to complain for services not rendered and was ordered to shut up and do as I was told! As a mindfulness practitioner I avoid conflict at all costs and always use peaceful communication to resolve any issues, but I was made unable to even speak or agree on anything as he was shouting over me, and verbally attacking me aggressively for trying to rip him off - again - terrorizing me to the point that I felt I was in a hostile environment. Further to this, as the deal was for cash, and I was only able to pay via bank transfer because all of the ATMs of the area were out of money due to it being high season and a remote island, I was yelled at and bullied into splitting the amount I had to pay via international bank transfer to two transfers so that he evades the tax charge. The property does not offer the option to pay with a card. The shockingly extreme nature of the owner’s behavior, forced me to contact the tourist police the following day as well as my lawyer for advice. My lawyer advised me to not engage in any form of communication with the owner as he was clearly unstable and potentially dangerous, but rather direct him to my lawyer, while also asked me to record any further communication that takes place - which I did - to demonstrate the extremity of the situation. For instance, during one of his rants, when I responded that he has no right to speak to me in this manner as I am a paying customer and not staying there for free and he replied “yes, you are staying here for free.” The police also reassured me that if anything escalated, they would intervene immediately and that the law was on my side, so in the end I did manage to finally secure a 50 euro reduction, for the lack of wifi. I have travelled all over the world, but I have never encountered a similar phenomenon where I had to resort to the authorities, in any of my journeys. On the last day, having been denied assistance with my bags, I was forced to go around the village to look for help. People were stunned to hear that I was refused assistance as a disabled person, as in these types of mountain villages, assistance with luggage is considered a default process for everyone. I was also weirdly asked why did I decide to rent a place from a foreigner, to which now I know was a mistake as I missed out on the local hospitality which is the main reason people visit this place - during my 3 day stay at the transit island to Athens, the lady of the small 3 star hotel did not allow me to carry even my own bag while she was taking me to the room from the parking. I was finally lucky enough to find a local girl to assist me with my bags, while his family was siting in the patio of his house next door, enjoying the show of watching us struggle with the bags. Exhausted from the heat, I returned to the accommodation to catch my breath and to get my last bag before leaving. The owner then arrived who I thought was there to provide assistance only to find out that he came to request the 2 euros for the bottled water he had brought me earlier in my stay! I underlined again that I was out of cash due to lack of cash in the surrounding villages, and offered to pay with a card, a service he does not provide, despite the high rates he charges. To add insult to injury, my friend who came to visit for a week, lost her golden bracelet so when I asked him to let me know if he finds it, he asked me if it was worth a lot and when I said yes, he said “great, I can then keep it for what you owe me!” All in all, the owner’s unacceptable behavior ruined the experience and the energy these beautiful lodgings can offer. I only regret I didn’t book a lady’s house in Chora I had previously found which was cheaper because it lacked wifi but was warm and welcoming, since I ended up paying a very high price – and not of a monetary value - for a place that didn’t have wifi anyway…
