Well... as a tourist, you can visit Ghazanchetsots Cathedral, which is beautiful, upper mosque, which is under renovation and fortress. But if you walk around the city, you find ruined apartment buildings and mosques. But at the same time, there are shops selling foods and liquors, kids playing in the park. Yes, there’s a normal life by local people here.

When I reached this historical site, I was pleasantly surprised to see Sanskrit mantras written at the entrance itself and being an Indian I was excited to know more about the heritage place. My local guide Tural told me that in ancient times Hindu and Zorastrian travellers created this place. This was the place for stay as well as for worship for them, now converted in a museum. In one of the rooms you can hear sanskit mantra chanting. By visiting this place I also came to know that culture and beliefs of Zorastrians were mostly similar to Hinduism. A must see place specially for Indians.

Tigranakert of Artsakh

Tigranakert of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Republic is a ruined of the Hellenistic period. It is one of four former cities with the same name, named in honor of the Armenian king Tigranes the Great ( 140-55 B.C.), and, apparently constructed by the latter. While the city is ruined you still can walk in the hill and look on the ruins of the wall. There is also a museum of Tigranaterk near the ruins, where you may see archeological findings dated to the ancient times. What was exciting for us is that while walking to the top of the hill where an ancient city was located we found remains of ancient crockery apparently left there within archeological works. I heard somewhere that it is possible to apply for volunteering in Tigranacert and take part in archeological works
