Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

In this unusual place of worship, mischievous simians throng among sacred temples and lush greenery.

I was pleasantly surprised by The Monkey Forest. Having read some less pleasant experiences I went in with caution. Only to find out that you do only have issues if you stop thinking about the monkeys as the wild animals that they are and start tampering with them.
Overall, had a great time! The forest itself was gorgeous and well kept by the staff. Definitely a must see in Ubud!

And unjustifiably so....
The home of 1000 masks and 4000 puppets of different origins that are perfectly kept is astounding and well worth a visit. The Gardens surrounding the Houses are a treat to the eyes.
I urge you to make the detour for a visit when in Bali.

This was my favorite Bali experience! It was my 5th time to visit Ubud, and I'd never thought to do a biking tour! I sure am glad that I took the chance, and got away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and slowed down for a morning of slow riding along the roads and Neighborhoods surrounding Ubud. To feel the fresh morning air, to smell the fires and breakfasts cooking, to hear children's' laughter, and see authentic Balinese residents beginning their day, was to experience the REAL Bali!
Small groups (mine was 4 riders plus our great guide) was the reason I chose Bali 2000 over others. When I heard about the experience of others on another tour, I knew mine was better! It is locally owned, the bikes well maintained, and I was picked up right on time at my hotel and driven a few minutes to the company's owner's home where the equipment and crew were waiting.
On my tour, there was myself (62), and a father (40) and his two kids (10 and 17). We had a great time stopping at a local school to go inside, a temple, rice fields, and even a local swimming hole for a cool off dip! Any time we wanted to take a photo or ask questions or explore a site, our guide enthusiastically encouraged us. He was aware of fatigue, so kept a good pace and had plenty of water. (I also brought a protein bar)
On the way back, I felt my age... and a little worn out. I didn't want to slow down the group. When I mentioned it to our guide, he asked, "Do you want to ride in the car?"
Sure enough, there had been a car trailing us the whole three hours, driving on the road when we rode on narrow paths around rice fields, and keeping a good distance at other times, so that we had not even noticed it! With humble gratitude, I let them quickly take the wheel off my bike and store it in the back of the air conditioned SUV. I rode back, having a great conversation with the driver, yet still stopping and getting out to join my fellow cyclists when they stopped for a photo or other item of interest.
Listening to other tourists talk about their biking your experiences, I know I joined the BEST CYCLING TOUR in Ubud! Bali 2000 may be small and not as well advertised, but this is the real deal! Professional locals showing you the place they love... the place they call home. DO IT!
Bring: hat with visor, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera, snack.

The whole trip was fun and relaxed. Started by well organised comfortable pick up from the hotel. We were then escorted to a coffee plantation where we had a very informative talk and tastings. The views were amazing.
Next on to breakfast at a hill side resistant with good loos! And amazing views for breakfast.
Then the cycle back...the bikes were a little tired ,but did the job. The route down went through jungles, side roads and rice fields .you saw many aspects of the Bali lifestyle.
The village we road through we stopped and the guide explained the temples and lifestyle. You could ask questions too.
Finally back to a small family enclave for a delicious home cooked lunch. And some wonderful hand painted drawings. Then home to our hotel at about 2 30pm .
The tour was well organised, support vehicle and machanic on hand. Best feature small group of 6 max.
Ideal for any age or ability. The reason only a 4/5 was the bikes were rather tied . Recommend you take cycle gloves if you pre-book the tour ,you do need to use the breaks! I did not and it did not matter but if you have them bring them .also long sleeves and trousers to protect from sun and nippy things. I would not have missed this tour. It was fun ,informative, safe and friendly. Great value for money too

This was more than just a cycling tour, but a wonderful experience with local guide Mus who not only takes you on out of the way farm/jungle/rice field cycling treks, but also welcomes you into his family home and gives fantastic insight into local culture. The tour ends with a delicious Balinese home cooked meal. I would highly recommend this tour for the real Bali experience with a genuinely lovely local guide. I’m not an experienced cyclist however I found this easy as it was mostly downhill.

Being a regular visitor to Bali I have had many massages but Sinar is by far the best I have experienced. She is so humble and caring and a delight to deal with. I visited on the recommendation of Cloud Nine Estate where we were staying as I had injured my knee due to too much walking. Sinar recommended the treatment and worked on my leg most days......whilst still not healed she had me walking again within a day. I also had a body scrub and my skin still feels like velvet a week later.....all natural. This is a true Bali experience and nothing like the hundred of cheap and expensive massages you get in so many other places in Bali. If you want the true Bali experience I highly recommend. Also Sinar has many years experience and has worked at many Four Season resorts around the world. I can't wait to return.
