Carver Theatre

As a regular annual attendee to the Carver for the January Pantomime I just wanted to ensure that there was a current review on Trip Advisor. The Carver is a really splendid local facility, small and compact with comfortable seats and a good sound system. Just idea for creating an excellent atmosphere for the Panto. I'm fairly sure it was completely sold out this year, so get in early with your ticket requests for next year. As for the latest production The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I feel it was the best yet, even if I was singled out by Dame Betty (yes, I am THAT 'Jeffrey' from the first night). Anyway, as a grandparent to one of your stars of the show it's very moving to have watched, previously nervous children, mature into confident young actors and actresses, over just a very short period. So the dedication of the Production team and all the help behind the scenes really shines through. It was obvious that the cast were loving the performance throughout and it's fair to say that 100% of the audience thoroughly enjoyed the show too. A just reward for all the long hours of very hard work and rehearsals, and good to see a few more boys involved this year. Very well done to all of the team and cast and wishing you all well on the last night. Looking forward to the next production!

The Royal Scot

Reviewed By w0nnieb

After a recent refurbishment, this is now a place to visit. The décor is really tasteful, while the pub has been opened up, it still retains the feel of its separate rooms. It’s very stylish with great wallpapers and matching soft furnishings. Good attention to detail giving it a modern feel while retaining the country pub atmosphere, not easy to pull off! The young Landlord really has his finger on the pulse, he keeps an eye on everything and tidies up quickly and efficiently when a table is vacated. He is interested in your opinion as to how the refurbishment works, great people skills. The competition in Marple Bridge is pretty stiff but I’m certain that this place will add a valuable extra layer to the village. Highly recommended.
