Helston (Cornish: Hellys) is a town and civil parish in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated at the northern end of the Lizard Peninsula approximately 12 miles (19 km) east of Penzance and 9 miles (14 km) south-west of Falmouth. Helston is the most southerly town on the island of Great Britain and is around 1.5 miles (2.4 km) farther south than Penzance. The population in 2011 was 11,700.

This 15th century pub with its historic fittings and thatched roof played a huge part in keeping proper ale going during the dark days of the 60's & 70's. So it was great to finally get here and enjoy a couple of the home brewed Spingo Ales. The bar is on the right side of the corridor when you enter whilst there are 2 separate rooms on the left side. Plenty of locals enjoying the beers during my visit, I shall definitely be returning, hopefully for a proper session.

Lisa catered the refreshments following my mother in law’s funeral. She was absolutely lovely, so helpful and sensitive to our needs, and offered lots of different options, including plenty of choice for vegetarians. . On the day, the buffet was beautifully set out, delicious, plentiful and excellent value for money. Everyone commented on how lovely it was. The staff were attentive and efficient and the service couldn’t have been better. She has given a lot of thought to making the outside area Covid safe - there are individual heated booths under cover, which are the perfect size for small groups, plus a bigger open area with tables and a children’s play area, making the Bell perfect for both families with children and adult groups wanting a quieter area. We were very happy indeed and would heartily recommend it. And by the way, ignore the comment below about the toilets - they’re perfectly nice and clean!
