We visited on a Sunday in mid November. It was lovely to walk around the lake in the autumn warm sunshine, surrounded by beautiful tall trees that are wearing their golden, orange and red coats. We loved a leisurely Sunday walk in the park, breathing sweet scented air, watching and feeding ducks and swans, and observing squirrels from the special aireal walkway observation platform. So, take your kids, grannies and dogs, put on your wellies, pack up your lunch, and head to the stover park for a a weekend afternoon out with your family. And don’t forger a loaf of bread to feed the ducks and swans, and nuts for squirrels! Also the ducks love sunflower seeds as we have discovered today! Enjoy the photos that I have posted here. We visited late in the afternoon and were lucky enough to be the only people there! The birds are wonderful to see and are clearly well cared for. Although there were no flying displays due to Covid restrictions, we had the opportunity to see some of the birds up close while they were being fed by their handlers. A special mention of thanks to Caitlin, who spent a lot of time engaging with our children (age 7&8), answering all of their questions and making it an extra special and memorable visit.

Stover Trail

Reviewed By britholidayfans - Plymouth, United Kingdom

We've been here twice now, once after work riding from Stover to Bovey Tracey and back after work one evening on a week day. We arrived at about 1630 and were leaving by 1800hrs. There weren't many other people on the trail so it was a very peaceful way to wind down after a busy day. We returned on bank holiday Sunday and rode from Stover to Newton Abbot then to Bovey Tracey before returning to Stover. The trail was very busy, particularly heading to Newton Abbot with lots of groups of cyclists and families with young children learning to ride. Everyone was extremely polite and courteous, which meant it didn't matter that it was busy. When we got to Bovey Tracey we found the recreation ground and sat on a picnic table in the sun enjoying our lunch and people watching. The ride itself isn't the longest, we rode for about 1hour 30mins but lots of that was slow riding exploring little turn offs on the trail, so if you were just cycling without looking around the ride would be over much quicker. The time and distance was perfect for our day though. The trail will certainly be one to return to in the future when we only have a couple of hours. The trail was clean and overall litter free too which is always nice.

Lovely location with fab views over the Teign Valley the garden is split in to different parts of the world based loosely around the 5 continents. Really well set out with interesting paths and loads of unusual plants, shrubs and trees etc to see. Some hilarious "homemade" garden ornaments and signs but we all thought this added to its charm and unique character.
