As quiet often in Kinshasa, finding the place asks a few efforts but once you are there you won't regret. This place has something unusual. Mixing Congolese history with contemporary art is allready special but bringing this jointly wth a lot of diverse activities, as there are educational lessons on ecology for schools, a sunday-brunch, each month a temporary exhibition putting one local artist in the picture, makes this place unique. On top of it, this all is for free and if you want a drink the prices are democratic. Don't forget before leaving to have a look in the small shop whose assortment is as diverse as the place.

You need a guide to explain all parts of Lubumbashi Museum : permanent exposition on copper process and impact, archeological findings, local cultures. Very interesting.

Musee National de la Republique Democratique du Congo

It's not complicated, it's the best museum in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. If you don't go, it's either because you are not in DRC or because you are not into museums. Or it's because you are not in DRC and not into museums! If so, why are you reading this review? But let's go back to the review. The museum is in a new building, made and given by South Korea. It's easily accessible by car. The items are fabulous. The guide I had is a beginner. I am not a Congolese person and I am not a specialist of African art, but I knew more than her, which is a real shame! I think she should take her new job seriously. There are very few museums in Kinshasa, so don't hesitate, go! The museum is open everyday except on Monday, from 9:00 to 18:00. 10 USD per person. 2 USD for a Congolese person.
