The 7 Best Geologic Formations in Balearic Islands, Balearic Islands

September 4, 2021 Sachiko Swiger

The brightest stars of Los Baleares are Majorca, Ibiza and peaceful Minorca. Situated between France and Africa, the archipelago's islands each have distinct characters. Majorca is the most developed and offers a mass of hotels, fast food joints and crowded beaches. Ibiza is loved by a hard partying set, including many gay visitors. It is also increasingly popular with upscale travelers, drawn by the chameleon island's reputation as "the new Provence." Pick an island and stake a claim on its sand.

Torrent de Pareis

All visitors to Mallorca ought to visit this place. Sa Calobra AND Torrent de Pareis. Walk ½ a kilometer past Sa Calobra and watch an awesome canyon landscape. If you are fit and look for adventure, take a guided hike (you must be fit): It was the best (most advanced) hike I have ever experienced. A couple of family members and I did a Mon d'Aventura guided hike from top-to-bottom; from Escorca to Sa Calobra (the guides were superior; friendly, helpful and knowledgable). The nature and experience was AWESOME. Go with a good guide. Do not attempt unless you are proficient at hiking/bouldering.

Cueva de Can Marca

Stumbled across this place on a random drive round the island. Pulled in the car park which has some walking opportunities and saw lots of lizards on the rocks. We went down to see what it was all about there was a tour in 10 mins and at 11 euros thought it was worth a look. The tour took about an hour, the guides were very nice, the guy did the talk in three languages for everyone. There was a bar / cafe and small gift shop, all reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed it, one of the best things I did that week :) it was a really interesting tour, great if you like rocks! It's a lovely surrounding area to explore too. Not too much difficult walking, suitable for all ages
