Les 7 Cascades

Reviewed By TIL1969

The only way to visit the true nature masterpiece as Les 7 Cascades is to find a guide who knows well the place as the path can be very tricky in some areas. Short rains are something usual here so it can be steep but also slippery. So it's important to choose the right clothes and shoes. My daughter /16/ and I visited Les 7 Cascades on 18 Dec. I researched on the Internet to find the right guide. My choice was Prakash Isram from Green Discovery. I wrote him a message in FB. Everything was arranged for less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, that day was rainy. I looked at the sky, and I felt some doubts about whether to start the challenge at all. But we went. The weather conditions were not excellent, but the adventure was. We descended to the bottom of the valley and then started climbing cascade after cascade. Prakash showed us some unusual plants, told us some historical facts about the place and how it was looked in the past. We had a lot of possibilities to take pictures. There are a few places that he asked the group, whether someone wanted to swim. In our group, no one was willing to swim or jump in the water. We climbed all 7 cascades though I believe they must have been 10 or 12 as some waterfalls are next to each other almost at the same level in the valley. Prakash took care of everything including food and water. Sandwiches with traditional vindaye fish were good, but homemade samosas were very delicious. Lychees and pineapples were given us as a dessert. Everything was just perfect. I want to recommend Green Discovery and our guide Prakash Isram to everyone who has an adventurous spirit and is willing to take the challenge called '7 Cascades'. I have no doubt that Prakash will take into account your preferences and level of fitness to make your experience the best possible.

The Martello Tower Museum

Next to a public beach which looks onto Le Morne Mountain and the sea where dolphins are sighted on boat trips. Experienced guides show visitors around this 19th century British fort. Come and discover why it was built, how the tower was equipped for soldiers to survive inside during a siege, and see where they ate and slept. Displays include a cannon, coins, military buttons, life size models of soldiers with their muskets and swords.Feel the weight of a real cannonball and see where the powder was kept. Have your camera handy for a photo of yourself dressed up as a soldier with a musket.

Travelling to the west of mauritius coastal road was simply amazing. The sun,the heat, the mountain view, the locals, and the azure water giving a superb view on le morne from La preneuse public beach. There i found a basalt tower which was said to be a museum, so i hoped in for a visit. There you will be welcomed by a lady which is dressed in a uniform ancient time governor, very nice. The lady explained very well how the battle did occured long time, you can also find antiques objects which they did use before, guns, sword, bullets, cannons, even how the governor lifestyles. Very nice historical place should give a visit there but which i was not aware its payable which i see its not even mention before someone hopped in.
