I totally got a kick out of this place!
We just sort of wandered around the old walls and let our imaginations ride the winds of time to imperial days when the walls were tall and strong. Now, standing at the edge of the desert, they are mainly hard-packed piles and ridges of dirt but nevertheless are impressive and interesting. Nearby are several abandoned cave-homes, carved into the loess.

Although this is not like the Great Wall you typically imagine and see on TV, it is still a must when in Yulin!

I very much enjoyed these. The carvings are beautiful and really caught my imagination. There are dozens of small caves and 100s of images, statues and words hewn into the rock face on both sides of the gorge.
I was also fascinated by the old aqueduct that now serves as a Bridges and canal that runs across it and along the far-side of the canyon.
There were only about 4 other people there when we went on a chilly day in January.
