Komarno City Centre

Reviewed By Danielle P - Prague, Czech Republic

Mostly Hungarian-speaking population, unfortunately I have to say that there is nothing special to visit at the centre :(. But there is an old anti-Turkish fortress and part of The City wals around the town, accessible also from inside in recent years. A few swimming/sunbathing possibilities by Danube in the summer.

Monostori Fort

Reviewed By Martin F - Stockholm, Sweden

A huge fortress with several different smaller forts. Originally it was a Roman legionary fortress that with time expanded into a fortress at the end of the 16th century. In 1594 the Ottomans attempted to take the fort and later during the Napoleonic Wars, the Austrian Emperor fled here with all his court. Later the fortress was built into an impressive multi-fortress defense plant .
During the Hungarian Revolution in 1848 there were also a lot of fightings here. The fortress later took its current form around 1850 and 1871.
After World War II (WW2), Warsaw pact built its largest and most secret ammunition store here, with thousands of well-guarded wagons.
They have also a very impressive collection of old guns and rifles from the time 1848 and the guide in the charge there will let you shoot both gun and rifles from that time.
Very reccommended for all ages..

Courtyard of Europe

Reviewed By Kristina F - Bratislava, Bratislava, Slovakia

It is a pity that Komarno is still much underestimated and thus quite weakly visited by tourists. The history and the monuments of this town would definitely deserve more. Courtyard of Europe and the main Klapka square form the heart of the town with charming atmosphere. The Courtyard is formed of houses which represent different European countries. There are small caffees and shops on the courtyard, making it an ideal place for rest and meetings, but unfortunately a part of the houses are not inhabited. I personally have very nice memories of this place as in the past, before the Courtyard of Europe has been built, my grandparents used to live here. So standing there I can easily recall the flavours, colors and the nicest childhood memories. So for me it is a magical place!

Kalicka

Kalicka is the first and only escape game in the Komárno region. Our rooms do not contain scary, dangerous or disgusting things. We do not use special effects – we are confident that the game experience primarily depends on the ingenuity, creativity and communication among the group members. There is no strict time limit in the game. Instead – if necessary – a bit of external support is given to the group. Players open the lock all alone. The catharsis felt is guaranteed and long lasting.

This was our first visitation in Kalicka. We were excited because nobody had any experience how to play this game, how to find the way of escape from the room. The organization was perfect, we reserved the room throw Facebook, the "escape room" is set up in flat, where there is personal from the begining until the end of the game. It was very interesting to solve task by task, until we get out from the room. I suggest to every try this professional escape room, which is really fun entertainment In Komárno. You can choose from 3different game language (Slovak, Hungarian, English) so dont be afraid and try it. ☺️

Egy napra ugrottunk át a gyógyfürdőbe. Elsősorban a szauna érdekelt.
