Hayes Pub

Reviewed By Citallwic - Columbia, South Carolina

Our tour group had a rollicking good time at this cozy-crowded pub, not least because local musician Richie Roberts was really on his game that night and the crowd was into the Beamish pretty good. I’ll remember our evening in this centuries-old mud brick cottage-cum-pub as perhaps the single most entertaining event of our Emerald Isle vacation. I'm not giving up my search for the perfect pub just yet, but the bar is now set a lot higher than it used to be.
SEC trivia: A Texas A&M Aggies banner adorns a wall near the bar, a nod to the fact that the formal name of this pub is Aggie Hayes and locals know it as Aggies.

Dunmore East Golf Club

Scenery spectacular, pity about the service. Unsure if the female staff member was just having a bad day when we arrived or if this was the norm. We attempted to order lunch to be told by the very disgruntled said member of staff that all was available was scones! Being ravenous and quite a trek up , we settled for extremely strong tar like stewed coffee and scones. We sat in awe as we watched other visitors/customers being given menus and ordering rather appetising lunches by another male member of staff. Our busy schedule didn't permit us to delve further into exactly why we only could have scones , when everyone else at other tables could have lunch. Left a bad taste and despite the views, I would not return.
