Dimmingsdale

Dimmingsdale is truly perfect for walkers and ramblers looking to enjoy the Churnet Valley, Staffordshire Moorlands & Staffordshire Peak District. Dimmingsdale is truly one of Staffordshire’s hidden gems. This enchanting and beautiful valley is a haven for walkers, nature lovers and those seeking tranquillity and spectacular scenery. Forming part of the Churnet Valley in the Staffordshire Moorlands it is located between Alton and Oakamoor and is managed by Forestry England and Staffordshire County Council. Lakes, streams and rivers combine with a mixture of broadleaf trees and spectacular Scots Pines and huge sandstone rocky outcrops to create spectacular scenery and an amazing haven for wildlife, which is beautiful at anytime of the year. Dimmingsdale was once part of the Earl of Shrewsbury's Alton Towers Estate, now the public can explore this country paradise through one of the established woodland trails.

This delightful valley in the Churnet Valley & Staffordshire Moorlands beats any site in the Peak District National Park. Free parking is available at the valley's tea room- the Ramblers Retreat, which serves the most delicious homemade cakes, lunches and coffee. The main route- Earl's Drive can be busy, but the maps at the cafe show so many more routes, we've got more we want to go back and do. Lots of family friendly walks and more adventurous ones. The Forestry Commission volunteers are also very friendly and helpful!

I'd read the most recent reviews before our visit and told my boyfriend not to get his hopes up for too many rides. With the park being open 10-4 and a 3 hour drive up from Bath, I said we'd probably only get on 4 or 5 rides. Well! I was completely wrong. Even with social distancing in the queues and most of the rides being half full for more social distancing, we managed 12 rides on both days we were there (Thurs 22nd and Fri 23rd) and didn't practically every ride in the park, even though we entered the park at 10.40am both days. I've put our wait times for both days below. The staff were all lovely and were enforcing the distancing in the queues. There was no cleaning of the rides between guests, but realistically there was no time. The onus was on you to sanatise your hands before and after. There was a ten minute malfunction on Galactica and Thirteen was shut for half of the first day, but otherwise everything seemed to be running okay. It was a brilliant two days in the park with perfect weather ☀️ Day one Smiler 30 mins Oblivion 29 mins Rita 15 mins Sky ride Rita to nemesis 7 mins Galactica 40 mins with breakdown Nemesis 5 mins River rapids 6 mins Runaway mine train 2 mins Wickerman 10 mins Spinball whizzer no queue Smiler 2 mins Oblivion 2 mins Thirteen 28 minutes Day two Galactica 5 mins Funk n fly 5 mins Sky ride 5 mins Rita 35 mins Enterprise no queue Mix tape 5 mins Smiler 26 mins Oblivion 7 mins Spinball whizzer 5 mins Wicker Man 43 mins Nemesis 20 mins Blade no queue Galactica 40 mins

Alton Towers Waterpark

The Waterpark is a perfect family day out whatever the weather, with both indoor and outdoor pools and attractions offering gallons of excitement for kids of all ages. Bursting out of the middle of Splash Landings Hotel the Caribbean lagoon boasts hundreds of fantastic interactive water features, from lazy rivers, bubbly wubbly pools and crazy cannons, to the thrills and spills of our Master Blaster water rollercoaster! There are also facilities for our smaller guests, including the Little Leak - a shallow area with interactive play features, floats and slides for tiny tots. Plus children under 4 years old can access the Waterpark completely free! There is scrumptious food available, including great value sandwich meal deals and delicious smoothies and ice cream served on the pool side. If you fancy something a little more filling we also offer a pizza and pasta buffet menu in Flambo's Exotic Feast Restaurant, offering great views of the wacky Waterpark.

Cbeebies Land

Reviewed By cmfhewett - Leicester, United Kingdom

If there was ever a mini theme park for kids this is it!! My 2 year old boy absolutely loved it and you can spend hours in here or around the playground and sensory garden area! Popular rides are In The Night Garden and Octonauts so head here first / last thing as queues were up to 60mins in the day which is zero fun for toddlers and parents. Postman Pat and Bug ride were favourites for the little one. Would certainly recommend - check my overall AT review before you go!

Hi, I'm Captain Keith and I've been helping people overcome their fear about flying for more than 20 years. I have been involved in aviation for over 60 years. I started my career as a glider pilot became a flying instructor and flew for British Airways. I train human factors for pilots and train airline pilots to become instructors. I have written three books about the fear of flying and run the biggest help website for fearful flyers on the internet. My promise is to get you flying.

6. Classic Battlefield Tours

Classic Battlefield Tours

We are a small independent tour operator which was set up in April 2019 by two brothers James and Charles Stewart-Smith. We want to offer various tours for those which have an interest in military history but want to interspace the tour with other events and sites and those who want an in-depth study of a particular battlefield or campaign.
