The Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh (Brecon)

The Museum tells the fascinating story of four of the British army's most famous regiments. This long history, dating back to the 1680s, is told through many kinds of objects including uniforms, medals, weapons and models. The regiments have seen action in many prominent events, including the British campaign in South Africa (visit us and discover what really happened in the 1879 Zulu War!), And both world wars. Forty-three of the regiments' soldiers have received the Victoria Cross, and we commemorate their sacrifice and heroism as well as that of all the men and women associated with our regiments who have contributed so much to our country.

If you’re into military history this is well worth a visit with exhibits dating back to the beginning of the Regiment and from every conflict it’s been involved in. We had a great couple of hours here

This is a family run business. Everything very clean. Shop was well stocked and well displayed. Food was lovely. I read on here that it was deemed expensive. I don’t know what part of the country they lived in but all prices are very reasonable indeed. All children had great fun. Even the older kids. Definitely going again. You will not be disappointed.

Theatr Brycheiniog

Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon's Centre for the Arts opened in April 1997, as the first wholly funded Lottery new build arts organisation in the UK. The Arts Centre is probably situated in one of the most picturesque locations of any venue in the UK. Built alongside the canal basin in the heart of Brecon, serving the town and surrounding areas of Powys, Monmouthshire and beyond, it is rooted firmly in the community it serves. The venue currently provides a varied programme of theatre, dance, music and entertainment in its purpose built 477 seat auditorium and 120-seat studio/rehearsal space. It also hosts an exhibition programme in the Andrew Lamont Gallery. In addition to this, Theatr Brycheiniog also has a Waterfront Cafe which serves a range of hot, cold and alcoholic drinks and have a varied day time menu. We will soon be opening in the evening for pre show meals. The Waterfront Bar on our first floor is also open on performance evenings.

We have been to this lovely theatre on many occasions. Saturday we saw a fantastic band, The Upbeat Beatles, but was shocked to see so many seats unsold. The theatre is well run and lots of the staff give their time voluntarily. I hope that the local community continue to support this asset as I would suspect, ‘use it or lose it!’ This would be such a loss to the area. There is a variety of shows on their programme e.g. bands, comedy, ballet, opera, drama, children’s events and workshops. Please support this great theatre!
