The Gallery Upstairs

The Gallery Upstairs at Mill Street is located in a 50’s style home at the corner of Bronte and Mill streets in Milton, Ontario. The gallery has a smaller, intimate eclectic feel to it. As you roam through the rooms you will see different local artists showcased, such as Robert Bateman, Tina Newlove, Betty Hebert, Patrick Mcgoey, David Rheaume, Chloe Savage, Stacey Newman, Marie Austen, Cara Duke, Laura Newton, Suzanne Lasalle and many others. Enjoy a wide variety of decor and gifts, including original art painted on feathers, huge landscapes in oil, contemporary oils and acrylics, stained glass, pottery, chocolates and local preserves. We help with all types of art. Abstract, animal, contemporary, estate, garden and sculpture, metal, stone, custom framing your treasures into art pieces, and so much more. If you don't see what you are looking for on-site we can help facilitate a commissioned art piece to your liking. Social distance walking is permitted.

My daughter ‘needed’ another puzzle from The Gallery Upstairs, so under the guise of having us pick the perfect Mother’s Day gift together, we headed out. She grew up at The Harrop Gallery and Restaurant (it’s former name) - so whenever gifts are needed, or any kind of redecorating takes place, if something needs to be framed or restored - it seems that the car clicks into auto-pilot, and we head straight to Milton from Oakville or Toronto or wherever we are. We have three generations of our family shopping at Hedi’s ( She is the super knowledgeable plugged in owner of this fabulous destination); we call the gallery a destination, because you need to go there just once, to experience the welcoming energy, to wander through the ever changing displays, or relax in one of the shaded outdoor vignettes. As a 19-year old, she likes the idea of finding estate pieces one can find at the gallery, in addition to discovering established plus up-and-coming artists.. We had the pleasure to be schooled on a previous visit, on how curators make their selections - how to pick the perfect frame to showcase your treasures ... so clearly buying art it’s more than just ‘that painting matches my couch’ LOL. You want to love your pieces, connect with them so that they please the eye and make your heart sing! You can find pieces from $20/25 and up (Tina Bailey, Robert Bateman, Pat McGoey, Tina Newlove, Richard Taylor, Dave Rhéaume, Michael Close) to name a few and if you’re looking for gifts- we came home with beautiful Klimt mugs, a Frieda Puzzle, fabulous instant Rooibos tea and an early Close to grace our walls. I call it an expressionist abstract, Alexa says is funky!! Bottom line - it was a great trip, Hedi always has noshees and great coffee and I couldn’t be more thrilled that my ‘little one’ chose to commemorate our special Mother-Daughter bond with an enduring token of love. Go check it out... there’s a lot of dining options nearby or walk the path by the MillPond or stop on your way to the theatres once they reopen. eHugs!
