Amazing but expensive

Reviewed By albertv247

We were there for 3 nights, while staying in guest houses around Tufi too. The view of the fiord is amazing. It's at 2 minute walk from the airport and they wait for you at the airstrip. Rooms are great. Food is much better than almost anything else we've had in PNG so far, except for the breakfast, which is way too basic for the price tag. There is a hornbill as a mascot hanging around. It's fun but it bites your feet all the time, ending up being annoying - you can't even read or eat quietly. There are diving and other activities available, but pricey. On Sunday there's a nice barbacue at the beach at the other side of the fiord. Overall the place is great but the price is obscene.

Disappointing

Reviewed By Venture398295

Stayed for 5 nights, from 23rd December. Where do I start, check in I suppose. Very poor service at initial check in. Nothing explained about services, breakfast etc etc. just, sign this, there is your key. Request a second key as we needed 2, was told second key is in key safe and to come back later as it was locked. Came back later and was told, no, we do not have spare key and we had to make do with one. Room was ok and comfortable. Service of room could be better, towels where frequently not replaced until late in afternoon. Restaurant service was diabolical, staff seemed as though there heads where elsewhere. Placed orders and frequently forgot what we ordered. Several times what we ordered did not turn up and we had to remind staff. Christmas evening set meal on Christmas Eve was terrible, pork and turkey turned out to be 2 x cheap cut pork chops and turkey was a small well over cooked drumstick. Had espies behind bar but no ice inside, beers out of fridge where warm, requested ice bucket but looks like there was shortage of ice, no ice machine at such a large establishment?? Swimming pool started to turn green second day of our stay. Looks like nobody at hotel has the skill to daily test water and add necessary chemicals, next day pool was green and closed. Booked 2 x tours at hotel reception. Following day waited on beach at designated time at the dive shop. No boat. Tour operator said hotel had not advised of booking. Ended up leaving beach 1 hour and 20 minutes late. Fishing was good and we caught small mackerel, but your was cut short by bad weather, losing the time in early morning did not help and a 6 hour trip was cut to 3.5 hours. Next day trip to Duke of York’s. Left on time. Boat driver did not stick to the planned itinerary and we did go ashore as stated and get chance to purchase artifacts. Went ashore on one island for lunch, but local people on beach did not offer us privacy. Next stop should have been snorkeling in calm shallow water, instead, we stopped on a reef in fast flowing channel. Water was deep. Meaning child was frightened of the water. It was a little rough and very fast flowing current. Would not choose this hotel again. There are better resorts nearby with more family friendly facilities

Jais Aben Resort

Our favorite place to vacation

Reviewed By QuintzFam

We go here every chance we can for holiday. The rooms are always really clean - basic, but they have everything you need (bring your own shampoo and conditioner). The cleaning and restaurant staff are delightful. Hivi does a good job taking care of any issues and getting back to you when you have questions or want to book. The location cannot be beat. There might be "fancier" hotels in Madang, but this one has the most incredible views and sea breezes. The landscaping is lovely, too. It's so peaceful! We are always super sad to leave. Our kids ADORE the beach! And the Bridge Bar food is delicious and fast. All the servers are lovely.

Annual visait to Kokopo

I have stayed at the Kokopo Village Resort every year for the last six years. I find it a wonderful friendly place to stay. My family who lives just up the road join me for my stay. The staff are wonderful cleaning up after my grandchildren and putting up with the large number of "Guests". Highly recommended.

Disappointed

Reviewed By Aymeric D

Terrible! Management and team are happy to get your money but unable to deliver. Service is so slow (45’ to be served). Waiters and waitress are sad, nonchalant and unfriendly, never smiling. No attention and care to client. Nobody for showing us our room. Nobody for making a visit of the resort. No explanation on tours (no flyer). Where is the boss? No family friendly AT ALL! And above all I was sick because of food served (unfresh food or lack of hygiene?)

Wonderful stay

Reviewed By RyanM406

Stayed only 1 night before getting a boat to outer islands, however we had an amazing stay. The team here are beautifully friendly and welcoming with great service. The rooms are very comfortable and the food quality was fantastic. My wife is coeliac and they made us a special Thai dinner which was as good as what we have had in Thailand. Delicious fresh fruit and omelets for breakfast overlooking the bay. Would highly recommend and will return for longer next time. Thanks Marcus and team
