South West Coast Path - Portmellon & Bodrugan's Leap Walk

A moderate 3.7 mile South West Coast Path walk between two coves where people have been sheltering from the wild westerlies since Stone Age times. On a clear day you can see right along the South Cornish coastline from Turbot Point - a headland also known as Bodrugan's Leap after the local landlord was forced to leap from the cliffs into a waiting boat to escape to France!

Vault Beach

Reviewed By Jannerbloke - Devon, United Kingdom

A bit off our beaten track but more convenient when we’ve stayed at Portloe or Roseland. Free car park for NT members. Moderate walk down to beach and satisfyingly bereft of noisome catering or conveniences so be prepared check the weather suits and commit to a half day or longer. Popular with families and is also a well established naturist beach.

The Dodman

Reviewed By lou181818 - Bath, United Kingdom

Spectacular coastal walk from Gorran Haven around the SW coastal path past Vaults beach to Dodman then on to the stunning Hemmick beach passing aqua coloured sea coves and Shetland ponies. We then went back along the lanes/across a couple of fields which was more direct and still had sea views. The path is unsuitable for buggies and those unsteady, some steep bits and could be slippy when wet.

Gorran Haven Beach

Reviewed By MayTheFourthBeWithU - Indian Queens, United Kingdom

We tried to visit Mevagissey and due to lack of parking spaces and the stupid one way system (which means you have to go though the town and end up with a 5 plus mile detour) we ended up on the coast road (narrow lanes) to Gorran Haven. This is a little gem of a beach and harbour, with plentiful parking in a field about 200m away. Grab some chips from the local chippy, or sandwich / pasty from the cafe and sit on the harbour wall or beach and enjoy the view... Will visit again

Porthluney Beach

Reviewed By Passp0rtAlwaysReady - Exeter, United Kingdom

Stopped off at Porthluney Beach on our Tour of Cornwall. Hidden away you have to search this one out. Ample car parking spaces close to the beach, there is a parking charge during the summer. Totally unspoilt and dog friendly. The roads are very narrow leading to the beach so take care which car you take!
