Wonderful stay

Richard is an excellent host and really helpful. Always up for a chat and thinking with you to find a perfect hike with you. The accommodation was really nice and perfectly located to enter several hikes easily and next to the best pub of princetown. I also enjoyed the breakfast; it was delicious and there were a lot possibilities for personal preference (glass of milk and ommelet with good gadgets).

Dartmoor Inn

Couples stay

The location is on a main route on and off the moor, main road heads towards Princeton and Tavistock. There are all lot of animals around, walking in the road so need to be careful. This property is located with a lot of moorland walks, ideal for hikers, bikers or just a relaxing time away with your partner. Breakfast is amazing, full of flavour and all the ingredients are organic. When the restaurant is open the meat is cooked on open fire by the chefs, as soon as you walk in from outside the smell is amazing! Room was comfortable and clean, bed was very comfortable so can get a good nights sleep. The downsides to the property are, the bathroom that we had was on the small side. Didn’t hinder our stay. Ideally this would not be suitable for families or with small children. No TV or Radio in the room so make sure if you want some entertainment take something with you.

Brilliant bed and breakfast stay on Dartmoor

Has to be one of the best bed and breakfast we have been to for a long time. Was welcomed by John, Derek, Maddie and instantly felt at home. The food was freshly cooked and the amount of food served never let us down. We were asked what time we wanted breakfast for and there was flexibility on when we had it. The rooms have been newly re-decorated to a high standard, the bath/shower were also very good, loads of hot water. There is also controls to heat the rooms with your own radiators. . Loads of tea, coffee and lovely biscuits. Everything was spot on. The friendly and helpful staff made our weekend complete and we are definitely going back as we felt we made new friends.

The Oratory provided us with a great base for our recent holiday in Devon. The accommodation was clean, well-equipped with very comfortable beds, and the hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The ‘rain’ shower and roll-top bath added an extra bit of luxury. We will definitely return!

The Railway Ramblers' Rest

The Ramblers’ Rest has been created to offer comfortable accommodation after a day of exploration on Dartmoor. We are geared up to cater for a range of visitors and can even accommodate large groups of up to twenty-seven people. We are mud and pet friendly and we welcome dogs in the majority of our rooms. We know that you want to explore our local landscape and so have introduced a concept of ‘simple self-catering’: we provide you with a sink, fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave, giving you flexibility and freedom. This allows you to prepare packed lunches, organise hungry children and enjoy fresh milk with your complimentary tea or coffee. There is a great local shop and post office that offers a wide choice of supplies if you need anything else. In addition, we are located within 3 minutes walk of a fantastic pub, The Prince of Wales, who offer excellent food and local beverages. For anyone that wants a cooked breakfast, we have the additional bonus of being located right next door to the dog-friendly Fox Tor Cafe.

Warmest of welcomes

Such a lovely place. A real homely welcome. Nikki and Terry have really hit the mark with their rooms. Eco friendly and definately dog friendly our pooch loved her treats a nice touch providing a bed, bowls and bags for her. We chose one of the smaller rooms still a large enough bed and very comfy (may need thinner duvet though as room very warm). Freeview on t.v and we were able to mirror onto screen to watch from our tablet our own apps. Looking forward to returning and trying one of their other rooms.
