We wanted a base to explore a few local National Trust properties and made an excellent choice! We could only stay two nights as the hotel was then full, which was a pity as the place is a gem. We were in room 7. A spacious room at the front. Apart from a bit of traffic noise, which was not problematic for us, the room was very quiet. A comfortable bed and 2 chairs, with usual tea making facilities and a coffee machine. I have an issue when a room is listed as a superior double but you have only the bed or a dining chair to sit on, so the provision of the chairs was helpful. Breakfast was excellent with a comprehensive menu, all freshly cooked and well presented. We ate in the restaurant the first night and had a lovely meal. Desserts were seriously good! All reasonably priced. The central location of the hotel means it’s easy to wander the shops or visit other restaurants or bars a short walk away. We tried the small Greek restaurant opposite which was very good. As the hotel was an old coaching inn, parking on site is a bit tight but free parking is also available nearby. As with all good hotels, it’s the staff that make it such and the staff at the George were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back!

We had lunch at the end of a good hike around the village; didn't overnight so can't comment on the accommodation. We were all impressed by the quality and presentation of the food. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere

Had very high expectations after a lovely tour, lunch and wine tasting at Hush Heath vineyard - we were expecting a similar standard, nut oh dear no. We had the Hush Heath suite which I believe is the best suite. We were very underwhelmed. We arrived after 3pm and our first impression of the room was how noisy the road was, it is CONTINUAL traffic! We had no idea this was such a busy road. There is sort of secondary glazing, but bits are broken and it was v hot so u need the window open. The thing I was surprised by was the cleanliness, it was very below standard and didn’t feel clean. It was unloved and needed a good spruce up! Had an evening meal down in the restaurant - hubby had pizza which he said was good but my pasta dish was not and nowhere near a £15.00 price tag. A glass of wine is the same price as at the vineyard, deffo overpriced for a pub! As expected our sleep was poor due to the noise one of the Roman blinds is broken so you can’t even close this and every car heading towards Goudhurst during the night lit up our bedroom. Had to use the fan as the room was so stuffy having to close windows due to noise, I was covered in a very dusty stream of air. The whole place was grubby. Breakfast was ok but sooooo many flies in this place was off putting, the rug in the breakfast room needed a damn good clean. Would I recommend this place NO! They need to look at this place with fresh eyes maybe get Alex Polittzi in ?

You are invited to bed and breakfast at our Tudor home in the heart of the Weald of Kent. Godwin House, is an Elizabethan farmhouse built in 1580 and, set in lovely grounds minutes from ancient Cranbrook and Sissinghurst. You can choose between two luxurious en suite rooms - stylish Garden Cottage or our beautiful, unique Oast House, the oldest in England, a 16th Century building rebuilt in 1740. Garden Cottage with its peg tiled roof and weatherboarding is pure Kentish style. Exposed beams and antique furniture create a welcoming and interesting space, relaxing and private. Godwin’s Oast House is special. There’s nowhere like it. You are in the heart of Kent’s history and rural life but with en-suite comfort, fine furnishings, king sized sleigh bed and mod cons. Breakfast is the best of local produce with home baked bread fresh on the day served in our Tudor Morning Room in the house overlooking the views in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Godwin House is a B&B nestled behind hedges hard on the Tenterden Road. It offers a garden cottage that is very cozy and excellently appointed with modern comforts in a country cottage setting. Views of the garden from the cottage windows are beautiful. Sean Holden is the proprietor and is just great, Full of information and just great to talk to. Come stay here and you will be very happy.

My daughter and I stayed at this lovely B & B at the weekend and it was perfect. We were welcomed to this beautiful house by lovely and kind hosts, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Our room was gorgeous with very comfortable beds and lovely views. The breakfast is amazing, we are missing it already.

Come and visit the beautiful historic town of Cranbrook, home of the Union Mill, Cranbrook Grammar School and the Charming St Dunstans Church. With many great attractions and places to visit in neighbouring towns. The White Horse is a Last Orders Pub, owned by Hawthorn Leisure, to find out more please click on the link below. The White Horse is approx 190 years old with the first recorded landlord taking resident in 1828. Hosting 4 double ensuite rooms, above our pub and restaurant.
We were in the area and thought a couple of nights stay would be worth a try - the place looks really welcoming (and imposing) from the outside, very traditional. Large bar area, but with a couple of cosy little tables if you want to step away from the main area. Beautiful outdoor area and ample parking. Met by David who owns the place and he couldn't be friendlier - made time for a chat and pointed out where things are in the village, plus mentioned local farm shops and advised best route to take to the coast for a day out. Rooms are really nicely decorated and look out onto the main street. Plenty of bits and bobs in the bathroom (shower gel, soaps, etc.) and coffee/teas etc. in the room. Very comfortable bed and lovely fresh linen. Breakfast? A revelation! Fresh eggs, bacon and sausages that actually tasted as they should! It's only once in a while we do a cooked breakfast (although our son would do it every day if he could!) but it's so nice to find a decent one! Sadly we weren't there on a Sunday as I've heard the lunches are incredibly good value and really good quality, but we would definitely go out of our way next time we're vaguely in the area to try one. Cannot recommend highly enough - everything you could want for a little escape and everything you need in the village for your time there. Looking forward to the next visit!
