Wedding day at maes manor

We finally got married in May 2022, our wedding day had been planned since April 2020. We would like to thank the whole team at the maes manor for making our wedding day really special. A extra special thank you to Mike for his patience and understanding on how many times we had to move our wedding due to covid restrictions 4th time lucky. The food was amazing credit to the chef. They even made special dietary requirements for my son who has a gluten intolerance. Sam and Becky where fantastic throughout the whole process and especially Sam in the evening who looked after us throughout. The day and night was absolutely fantastic and all our guests commented on how nice the evening flowed We laughed from the start to the finish. We would definitely recommend getting married at the maes manor. The bridal sweet was amazing and breakfast the next day was exactly what we needed. Thank you again for making our day so rememorable, Sian and David Hutt

The room wasn't what we were expecting as it was a little small and outdated. In between the shower wasn't usable properly one second date of the ice cold next minute piping hot then back to ice cold again. The bathroom floor boards felt like they were going to give way from underneath us and there was a lingering smell from the drains that you would notice when you first walk into the room. For some strange reason we can't work out why the lights flickered a lot both lamp and ceiling. The staff were very very friendly and welcoming the bar facilities for good and we very much enjoyed our evening meals. The only reason we didn't give a five-star was the accommodation and facilities in the room (i.e. shower and toilet) we have paid less than £60 per night for better accommodation.

Perfect evening

Really excellent meal in friendly pub atmosphere with just a few tables. Cooking and serving by the family. Our B and B had failed to include it in its recommendations. I believe it has changed licensees and name recently so maybe that’s why. We would have gone back with more time

Dissappointed

We chose this place because it was dog friendly. The staff were very nice and helpful, however the food wasn't particularly good. A simple dish like lasagne was dry and tasteless, when we complained they were in fairness apologetic and changed for another dish which was bascially the same. The lamb rogan josh curry was lcking lamb and taste.. Even though the prices were relatively cheap, I still expected a level of value for money. We won't be visiting here again. Such a shame as the setting is quite nice and it's quite local.

The Rock

Your hosts Paul and Jennifer Taylor extend a warm welcome to you here at The Rock. The former winners of the Enterprise Inns National Pub of the year competition have put their plans to emigrate down-under on hold. Having taken on the tenancy of The Rock in July, they have completely refurbished the entire hostelry throughout. We offer an elegant, well stocked bar, choice of real ales, interesting selection of wines and some old fashioned soft drinks which all catch the eye as you approach. The menu is comprehensive, predominantly fresh food based, catering for both those on the move lunchtimes, as well as those who prefer to linger. Our specials are innovative and changed regularly.

Very friendly and welcoming stay

My boyfriend and I loved staying here! We were visiting family in the area and stayed for one night. The service is very warm (thank you Paul and Jennifer for your hospitality!). Really lovely atmosphere and friendly faces. Makes you feel at home. Lovely pub with a good menu. The room was very clean and with nice character. We even took a walk along the river nearby, such beautiful views. We will definitely stay here again.
