Terrible breakfast

Reviewed By PlymouthPete19

Stayed for one night. Our room was small, basic and functional. The shower was ok but you could barely get your hands under the taps in the tiny hand basin. We were right above the outside tables and could hear every word below, but weren't bothered by noise later at night. The bar was pleasant with a friendly bar attendant and good (but pricecy) ales. The breakfast was terrible. A member of staff in the dining room on our arrival, looked right through us and ignored me when I said "good morning"! The coffee (out of an earn) was weak and tasteless. Despite arriving at the start of breakfast time, there was just one apple and one orange put out for everyone! The cooked breakfast (both meat and vegetarian) was largely cold with very low quality sausages; the worst I can remember in a B&B for years. Overall not value for money and we coudn't recommend.

YHA Beer

This Arts and Crafts property with child-friendly facilities on the edge of the village of Beer is a great accommodation choice for cheap family holidays and school trips. The Youth Hostel is located on the stunningly beautiful Jurassic coast, now listed as a world heritage site. It’s great for geology, rock pools and fossil hunting, and of course, both walking and photography. The hostel has extensive and attractive private grounds for you to explore, and the surrounding area is populated with local legends about smugglers and pirates.

Stay spoilt by officious and unfriendly customer service

Reviewed By Hol522

We’ve stayed in many YHA’s and the staff have been without fail friendly and welcoming - until Beer. On several occasions the warden was unnecessarily officious, overbearing and unfriendly/rude. Sadly it marred our experience and we would not recommend Beer YHA for this reason. Having now read the terrible and poor reviews, I see that this is a consistent problem at the hostel.
