Aventura Backpackers Lodge

We are not located directly in the center of town but a few block away from all the noise and the bustle. We have a beautiful view of the Andean mountains from the balcony on the 2nd floor and a small patio and garden out back. All of the amenities are shared by the guests. There is no private bathroom on the premise/attached to any of the rooms. Guests have full access to the kitchen, at all hours, which is stocked with free tea, sugar, salt, pepper and cooking oil. There is also a public computer set up with internet for guests to use at anytime, this complements the free wifi throughout the house. Tour information is readily available from our knowledgeable staff as we work directly with the #1 tourist agency, according to TripAdvisor, Amazon Expedition to schedule tours with our clients at great prices, that even include direct pick up from Aventura! Additionally, we have a place where people can hand wash their clothes and shoes after an amazing day of trekking and a place to hang such items to dry. Lastly, we want to make your transition into Chachapoyas as smooth as possible so we will ask for your travel details and send someone to accompany you to the hostel free of charge!

Cheap and nice staff but needs improvement

Reviewed By adelefrancesca

The staff are really nice and the WiFi is great. There is hot water. But the place needs some TLC. The kitchen is dirty, noone seems to clean up after themselves and it's not enforced. The shower isn't that clean neither. The dorm room is cramped, luckily it was only half full as there as no space to stand, get dressed and pack. The mattresses are also old and you can feel the springs. The sheets were old but looked clean. I stayed one night and that was enough. If you want cheap place and can sacrifice cleanliness this this is it

Great spot to recollect

This hostal was fantastic. Most staff can speak English and they were able to sort many different tours and activities around the city. Their breakfast is fantastic and they have immaculate rooms. Great place to stay for a few days while planning your next move. Plus, the upstairs has great views of the city and surrounding mountains.

Zoilas Suite Escape

A Hidden Gem close to Kuelap

Reviewed By Laurie L

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. It was wonderful! The owners are friendly people and are always ready to answer any questions. They coordinated an excursion to Kuelap for us which was absolutely breathtaking. They also were able to secure a local driver to take us to Gocta Falls. I highly recommend visiting both places during your stay. I'm glad we found this place and will most certainly be returning. Thank you Zoila for making this all possible!

Good hostel in centre of town

Reviewed By Dave B

We stayed for 4 nights at Hostal Norte. Cesar was "hustling" at bus station - as we had nothing booked we went with him (he paid for the taxi). His hostel is in an old colonial building in centre of town. Our (double) room was large with 2 double beds. One sagged in the middle but the other was fine. Cesar and others at reception were very helpful and helped us book various excursions.

More a B&B than a hostel

Reviewed By Robert O

On the bright side: the hot shower was excellent. The house is well maintained and there are pleasant communal spaces (a bit cold in the evenings). The owner is friendly, though she often is not present. Overall more a B&B than a hostel. There is no kitchen facility, only a water container that is supposed to provide hot water as well. It did not at 7AM. Part of the time there were no cups. My impression was they want their customers to order breakfast and food in the restaurant. In the three-bed dorm there is another (private) room. When people walk in and out, your rest is disturbed as the locks, door handles and creaky floors cause unpleasant noise. After one night, I moved to another place with more facilities for backpackers. As a B&B it could be pleasant.
