Rushmere Duck Pond

Very quiet walk of my nans dog to the pond. Only a few streets away, I normally visit the pond to relax and watch ducks, frogs, birds and fishes around the area. I walked my nans dog Ruby there today and she enjoyed it. Go here often.

Lackford Lakes

From iridescent kingfishers to swirling clouds of starlings, the landscape of lakes, reedbed, meadow and woodland makes Suffolk Wildlife Trust's Lackford Lakes a wildlife oasis, offering close-up encounters with nature all year round. The reserve, trails and hides are open daily from dawn to dusk. Call in to the visitor centre for panoramic views of the reserve... coffee, cake and ice cream... and wildlife explorer back packs for young adventurers. Family activities and adult wildlife courses take place at Lackford Lakes throughout the year; follow us on Facebook or Twitter to keep in touch.

What a marvellous place to visit! Four of us had a great time on our first exploration. And yes we did catch glimpses of kingfishers! The herons, swans, geese and ducks were easier to spot, and there’s an abundance of garden birds at the feeding stations. Friendly and helpful staff in the cafe helped make this a memorable visit. If you’re interested in wildlife and prefer level walking this is a place ‘not to miss’!

Needham Lake

This lake is absolutely beautiful. There is play equipment on both sides of the lake, plenty of space to park, wildlife on the lake itself, and a super area where children are encouraged to build their own dens with branches already provided. Thoroughly recommend.
